    Please answer the following;

    *What games does he want to play:
    *Is it just gaming or for programming/Editing etc:
    *How important is harddrive space over speed? (HDD=more space, cheaper / SSD = faster, less space though... most people use an SSD and replace the cd-reader with a HDD for storage..is he open to this? )
    *Screen size? Does he still want a 17 inch? .. 15inches are comparable with more portability..
    *What about screen type? Matt or Gamut 95% (extra 100 quid or so, but supposedly better detail, sharper colours etc )

    :)

    If he knows what he wants, send him to pcspecialist.co.uk. Fantastic prices and you can custom your laptop.

    Hey thanks for the reply,

    The lap top is for gaming mostly, open world adventure, eg Skyrim.
    Idealy he wants two HD, one SSD and min 500Gb HD.
    17 inch screen, best screen for gaminging I guess.

    Tried to direct min to PCSpecialist but they are in the 4k range, and the final challenge is it must be slim enough to fit in a backpack sleeve!!

    I don't know what you've ben looking at, but the Vortex IV in the following configuration costs € 1,748 (incl. OS and delivery to Ireland).

    (Or €1,568 with AMD's flagship, the Radeon HD 8970M)

    As for your final request, you can forget about "ultra slim". Not a hope to fit monster graphics into some Ultrabook-style laptop, they do need some cooling after all. ;)
