I think I will join the ladies Gaelic team and the banter soc. I would like to join the student newspaper though, dunno what commitment that would involve

Hmm, bit of a tough one since there's so many to join :D .

I'm looking at Gaming, Japanimation and the Banter Soc looks promising too.

Hopefully I'll fit this all in. I could certainly try. :)

    ...Gaming...

I've heard the gaming society is mainly card games (magic the gathering) and hardly, if any video games :(

    Really?

Still, I'll see what it's all about.

Gives me an excuse to pop into Forbidden Planet more often. :)

Really? Then again, I shouldn't be surprised really.

Still, I'll see what it's all about.

Gives me an excuse to pop into Forbidden Planet more often. :)

New clubs can always be started if there's at least 15 others interested...

They do play a lot of card games, but there is an xbox being played in the snackery almost all the time, and a lot of the people there are pc gamers too.

Not much for physical exertion myself. I think I'm just signing up to the table tennis club :pac:
If there is a food eating society I'll be the first one on it though haha

What games (video games I mean)? How many consoles are there?

Also, what is the FIFA society like?

Can't be to specific (as I'm not sure) but they have at least 4 xbox and a fairly wide range of games including soul calibre, wwe 13 (played a lot when it came out) CoD and blur. That's all I can recall seeing but it's pretty open and if you bring a game and have some people that wanna play, go for it.

Edit: no idea about fifa soc but I imagine they play fifa and drink

They don't all come at the same time, you should in the next week or so get one.

I think the registration packs were only sent out yesterday when they got final numbers from CAO, should be between tomorrow or Friday you get them, they send them out in batches!

contact your School if not advertised yet

    see this link http://www.dit.ie/management/contacttheschool

best option is School Secretary (general enquiries) as academics may still be on leave - or your Head of Dept.

to email it is just firstname.surname@dit.ie

Is the review week pretty much a week off, yeah?

No lectures to attend, but useful for doing assignment work - and catching up on/consolidating course work. You can do nothing for it, but it will increase the pressure on you later in the semester.

I don't want to join loads of societies as I want to get a job and hopefully an internship or work experience somewhere during the year too, but I'm going to have to choose between: baking, dance, DJ, drama, film, guitar, keyboard, news and sign. Maybe I'll do two or three a year. :P

Anyone know what arts appreciation or creative arts is? Or if DIT has a radio/tv station? I want to join the student newspaper too! :D

Edit: I'm joining Cumann Gaelach too. :P

Anybody in DT175? Architectural technology? No?? Just me so :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 841 ✭✭✭Journeyman_1

Don't worry, there will be plenty there once you get started. Be prepared for work immediately* in that course though!

*Assuming it hasn't changed in a few years!
