I saw that earlier and was thankful it wasn't the Search & Rescue helicopter. Low and behold, a short while later, the red and white chopper was hovering over the Shannon too... :(

I`m wondering was it one of the AW139`s used by the Air Corps. They are green but depending on the light they could look black.
If it was the AW139 that would make a lot of sense as they do a huge amount of medivac work - bringing accident victims to hospitals that are experts in dealing with specific injuries. For example head injuries to Beaumont etc etc.

Was this the shape of it?

Oops, thought this was in the Dublin forum for some bizarre reason. There was a traveller wedding in St Munchins earlier, could be connected.

Brian Lighthouse, it looked very like that - I'm not great on colours so it could have been that Military Green.

But it was going around and around for ages. 2 hours, maybe more!! It was certainly buzzing around at about 4pm and it was buzzing around still at 6.20 or so.

Insect Overlord, I too was thrilled to see that it wasn't the Search and Rescue one - those guys are brilliant. I hope that S&R Chopper you saw was training....

    Testicle, No worries :D

Thanks again folks. Dog now chasing pigeons

There was a Dark coloured 'copter at the Festival of Speed, doing 15 minute paid rides.
Also a pair of stunt planes, which must have been visible from the City now and again.

This is what the drifter told me last week when it was flying very low in the southside:
ESB auditing the power lines....did them out my way last week....they do it every year or so on the larger lines...

That was NOT a Traveller wedding.

That looked quite good, was a number of cars parked on the motorway viewing them.

Thanks everyone again for your contributions.

I'm assuming that if its the Festival of Speed, the helicopter will be out again this afternoon. If its the ESB, then its unlikely.

    Have a good Sunday, all.

Idiots. Parking on a motorway is illegal for a reason.

    MEDIVAC 112.

Air Ambulance services being tasked, to be the best of my knowledge.

Lotto winner? I'd hate to be picking up the bill for all the frills on show outside the church.
