Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

searching the census

Is it possible to search for a specific address on the census?
For example If I search for 64 Meath Street in Dublin I get all the entries for Meath Street rather than for 64.

I don't know if a digital search is possible, but you can work your way there by taking a random Meath St. resident, going to the House and Buildings Return, getting the name of the Head of Household of the property that interests you, and then searching out the return that includes that person. If you actually want number 64, here it is for 1911: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Dublin/Merchant_s_Quay/Meath_St_/70078/

[Addendum: Okay. Pinky's method is better!]

Pinky-could you tell me how to do that for 1901?

This is the same family in 1901.

Use the links at the top of the listing - you can browse both censuses by county, then electoral district then street.

Go to the census homepage and click on "Browse census" at the top of the page. Then select the year, county, electoral division, and finally the street/townland.
