I'm watching the first few minutes to get the catchup then fast forwarding to the last 10 minutes, it's awful shite now, complete Power Rangers vibes every week now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,616 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

    Go go power rangers. 😂😂

    Awful this week.

I wonder what the rest of the season is going to be about?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Regional Midwest Moderators Posts: 24,039 Mod ✭✭✭✭Clareman

I haven't bothered watching it, don't think I'll even bother with the cousin's video this week going by your post :D

Normally I wouldn't even consider opening a thread on the day of release, for this 1 it was opening to see if it'd be worth watching or not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,616 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

From IMDB, it's the highest rated episode this season (for what it's worth).

I had it on in the background while I was working. You might enjoy it more than I did. 🙂

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Regional Midwest Moderators Posts: 24,039 Mod ✭✭✭✭Clareman

That's how I normally watch it as well, I'll leave it in the backlog and when there's nothing else to watch I'll throw it on.

Well if the new girl says Iris is pregnant then obviously she's pregnant. What other confirmation does everyone need?

Did they say where Ryan was all this time? And all Red Death's rogues got away?

Looks like the whole season's budget was blown on this episode to get Grodd again.

And the badly written and cringy dialogue can be summed up in one line - "It's a Wednesday!"

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Regional Midwest Moderators Posts: 24,039 Mod ✭✭✭✭Clareman

Jesus that's 40 minutes of my life that I'll never get back, it's complete Power Rangers now, even down to the costumes and the "ring of death" battle setup.

Oh yeah the whole "you're only a week old so you can't come into battle" to "oh you can diagnose pregancy with 100% accuracy" is a bit of a leap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,831 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

All the Red Deaths appearing throughout the city reminded me of Cybermen in Doctor Who.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,831 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

What kind of illegal casino would knowingly allow a dealer that would cause the player to win?

Someone should tell Barry and Iris that being pregnant early means it's very unlikely Iris will give birth to the same kid they've met before. Sure they already cancelled out a Nora before.

Speaking of Nora and Barry, is it a good idea for the title character to disappear for an episode in their short final season?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,373 ✭✭✭EoinMcLovin

Yeah there are so many bad writing decisions in this show. Like what mother would allow her child be taken away to live in another city knowing she would only see her on weekends. And Barry telling a known criminal like Gold Face his identity just like that. This episode felt more like, the 2 main actors aren't doing this episode so let's bring back a meta that was on the show previously. I saw a good suggestion on Reddit, they could have used this as a farewell for the Legends where Cecile tries to get them out of Time Jail. It looks like all the big things are going into the last few episodes seeing all the leaks going around a few weeks ago.

An episode without the titular character and one of the worst characters/actors in the show just slightly behind Chester

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,831 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Darn it! I accidentally watched another episode of "Female Friends of the Flash". Maybe the main show is back next week.

I know I missed an entire season of Supergirl, but how often was she offworld during its run, as that seems to always be the reason she can't help. At most she wasn't very far.

Nia saved Iris's life? Good job since it was her fault she was in danger.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,373 ✭✭✭EoinMcLovin

Yeah just watched it there, such a pointless episode. Next week looks just as bad. How they decided to end 9 seasons with the last few episodes, I have no idea.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,257 ✭✭✭✭ejmaztec

It's as if they decided to load the final series full of crap so that no one will be sorry to see it go when it finally fizzles out into oblivion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,831 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Next episode is the episode that was talked about before the season started I think. Though looks like that's not until the 26th.

After that I assume they'll use the final 4 episodes for a single story to wrap up the series and the Arrowvese.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,550 ✭✭✭sioda

Jesus that was mid season drivel not the 5th last ep ever.

    Awful from start to finish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,831 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Trying to think, has the Flash even been in the past few episodes? Like in costume.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,373 ✭✭✭EoinMcLovin

don't think so. not since the Red Death episodes. This has been such an odd final season. Like there isn't even a big bad for the final season. I'm wondering if all the money went towards getting all the old characters back and special fx . Maybe that's why the last few episodes have had no Flash action

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,831 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Can't afford anything too expensive after having Grodd earlier.

Not sure how they passed the inspection considering the amount of stuff they had hidden.

And imagine here trying to get people from 4 different departments all turning up at the same time to get work done.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,373 ✭✭✭EoinMcLovin

It's just the typical lazy writing from this show

Jesus that was a hard watch, first episode in a while, mainly because of Stephen Amell's return but its not only a complete Power Rangers knock off at this stage but the bromance "you make me a better man", yeah you know what you can do with that.........

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,373 ✭✭✭EoinMcLovin

At least Diggle got to say goodbye this time. Looks like the SFX budget went into this episode compared to the last few episodes. Still not enough to make up for a terrible final season though

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Regional Midwest Moderators Posts: 24,039 Mod ✭✭✭✭Clareman

I had lost track of Arrow and got very confused with the multiverse thing, I was a bit CW DC fan until it got too bloated, Black Lightening and Batwoman broke me so I gave up everything except Legends.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,373 ✭✭✭EoinMcLovin

Yeah that's the thing, especially with Crisis you really needed to have been watching the other shows to get an idea on what's going on. There were way too many shows at one point. They would have been better off sticking with 2 main shows and then just have one off series with different heroes who would then show up in the following crossover event. At least with the Disney Plus Marvel shows there is only one show running at a time

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Regional Midwest Moderators Posts: 24,039 Mod ✭✭✭✭Clareman

The other thing is not only do you have to watch every show you have to watch them in the right order, got too much for me for a finish, saying that, when Marvel AGENTS of shield came out you had to stay up with it for 1 of the Avengers movies which annoyed me, but that's a topic for another thread.

Flash started out ok, I'm always a fan of the overarching storyline, big bad for the end of the season, I'm fine for a freak of the week to start the show, but it just became the same whiney thing week in week out with increasingly worse special effects and acting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,831 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

I remember reading in an interview with EPs that Cisco was meant to find out about the multiverse before now but then the pandemic shortened the season and plans obviously changed.

So Khione does have frost powers? And is able to use them to safely freeze people's blood?

When Barry said about hanging the bow in the Hall, I assume he means the Hall of Justice that no one has visited since Flash fought Black Lightning?

When ollie asked how many times he had saved the city and Barry said 180, I looked it up and last night was episode 180.

Looks like next week is the beginning of the final arc. So 4 episodes left

My theory is they hit paydirt with a fantastic DCCW/Arrowverse setup, they had great individual introductions to non-core DC characters and it was all going great but the MCU kind of exploded so needed to milk it, the crossovers were good, Invasion and Crisis on Earth X gave enough of an introduction to the characters to mean you could just want them, the ones after that, nope, couldn't figure it out. I might also be a grumpy old man but they also seemed to get more and more woke as they went on, everything was given a nod at some stage or another.

The latest episode seemed to be kinda ,a taste of a return to form. It held interest more than the last few episodes ever have.

Hopefully they are trying to capture a little of that magic from the first few seasons before it finishes.

Found this episode kind of meh. This has been a really bad final season

Yep. This being the third from final episode (or antepenultimate, if you prefer), it was nice of Barry to show up for a couple of minutes.

I'll admit I have no idea what's going on any more.

And maybe I missed something but wouldn't it have made sense for Khione to start with the hand that had the crystal instead of finishing there. May have saved disintegrating the entire body.

It was even directed by Allegra.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,831 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

    And then there was one.

Seems Iris is the only one to really show signs of aging in 20 years.

So over 8 years we've had multiple people leave and join the team yet Chuck and Allegra are the ones who stick around.

Not to judge a book by its cover, actions and voice, but it seemed pretty obvious that Barry is more Eddie's type than Iris would be.

So does anyone know what Cecile's powers actually are that she can pull an entity from someone's body? Or are her powers just whatever's convenient?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,015 ✭✭✭✭fritzelly

Cecile's powers seem to evolve/change every episode - lazy writing for what once a very minor character to make her relevant in the show and an easy get out clause

Other than that a decent episode - finale next week, hopefully something good

I thought this was a dig up of an old thread. Genuinely impressed they’ve gotten 9 seasons out of this show. I gave up after season 2. Seemed too light to

    Last more than 4-5 seasons.

This story arc is awful and confusing. The first part (back at Flashpoint) was pretty good, but they didn't stick the landing. I won't really miss it after the final episode next week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,373 ✭✭✭EoinMcLovin

Yeah this whole season has been hit or miss which is a shame as its the end of the Arrowverse.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,616 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

After a pretty meh season, they did a very good job with the last episode.

Mad how easy it was to defeat some of those returnees though!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,373 ✭✭✭EoinMcLovin

Found the finale alright. Dunno what they were thinking making Cecile so overpowered. She started off as an empath and can now fly and astral project herself to the future, wtf. Some of the CGI was ropey and the legion was not needed at all. Also looks like the 2 reporters know Barry's identity I'm guessing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,831 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

    Sooooo... That's over.

And now Cecile can fly and take on Godspeed and clones by herself.

Her and Khione would be an unstoppable team.

And no one said anything about a Wells being at the party. Like were we meant to know which one it was?

Wasn't expecting much and it lived up to it and what dirt has Danielle Nicolet got on the producers/writers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,373 ✭✭✭EoinMcLovin

Yeah it's a pity this is how they ended the Arrowverse, and yeah she must have serious dirt as her storyline has just not been that believable this season (somehow becoming completely OP, deciding it's a good idea for her daughter to move to another city and just see her on weekends just so she can be a superhero)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,550 ✭✭✭sioda

Only catching up on this now wish I hadn't bothered last few eps were awful. Final few scenes just felt off. Also let's shoehorn all the characters in for one more group shot.

The CGI was very poor as well tbh.

Overall a poor ending to a show that had some great stories and with the exception of a few good over all characters and most importantly decent villains.
