Just wondering has anybody done much
Fishing around some of the estuary waters close to cork city eg.little island, fota, glounthaune etc.
There's loads of mullet about, and I'd be guessing bass if ya knew the spots, but is there anything else, would codling and whiting come up this far in winter?

    Hi,

Only mullet, you'd get some cod/whiting as far as cobh/monkstown in the winter but not upto fota/little island.

You will get bass, seatrout, flounder and mullet around the estuary in little island
You will get codling, pouting, whiting, flounder, dogfish and conger in the winter months with the odd seatrout and bass
You will get mackerel off the pier in monkstown too in the summer

It was this part that interested me "You will get bass, seatrout, flounder and mullet around the estuary in little island "

Since I live close enough to here. It would be nice to have somewhere local. Usually I head to some of the east cork beaches between inch and ballycroneen for bass/flounder.
