I hope he's not Red John, because it did seem kinda disappointing in the end. Wonder if the remaining 5 episodes will be them trying to shut down the Blake organization.

Look up the promo on you tube .
It doesn't look great . It was a little disappointing to be honest . In the end jane was no better than red john in a way. Still a good episode however.

So after a couple days to think about it, it's left me with a very big question:
Where did Jane have the bird?

Wikipedia only has 13 episodes listed. Could be a short season?

Full season as far as I know.

Something tells me that isn't Red John. Why reveal it with so many episodes left?

Show writers have confirmed it was him.

The show also seems to be hitting the reset button with
a 2 year jump in the timeline & Van Pelt - Rigsby leaving the show.

    That for the next episode?

    Afaik it's
a 2 year jump next week and later in the season will see the duo exit the show.

What a strange episode. Not very good either.

The next episode better be a huge improvement or I'm not sure I'll bother with the rest (now that the RJ story has wrapped).

Oh how I longed to see a red smiley face somewhere in that episode.

Last episode . Patrick wakes up next to his wife and daughter . " what a strange dream " .

I didn't think it was too bad . Hopefully a twist next week or something

Felt very much like a filler episode. The vast majority was just killing time.

Think they would have been better served to use the first three quarters of the episode recapping the two years that they skipped. Just use the last quarter for how it actually ended.

I think Patrick was playing that new lady Kim all along

It's been a long time waiting for the big reveal but in the end it was worth the wait. Here's a snapshot of the pivotal moment. I think it was one of the best moments from the past decade's television. I rewound and watched a good number of times to take it all in.

Think some of you are being harsh on the Red John reveal. Thought it played very well. And Jane even said he was a bit disappointed with Mcalister. all these madmaen are usually ordianary looking effed up types anyhoo. I liked the way Jane dispatched him. It would have been a real cheat if he didn't kill him as that was his motivation from season 1 and to strangle him to death was beautiful - the right type of personal, intimate touch that was needed.
I've downloaded the next few eps as I couldn't wait. And yes the reset button is more or less pressed. I'm ok with it as I've often wondered what could Patrick's Motivation be to continue with RJ dead. To be honest they'd be better off finshing the series with RJ dead and Jane off on his island living a simple existence. Supernatural maded the mistake of continuing on after the epic and series defining season 5 and its finale. I hope The Mentalist doesn't do the same.

How long is left in this season?

Anyway know if there will be more to come? Last nights ep was good, but don't know where they'll go from here!

That was episode 15 of 22 planned. I'm guessing it's unlikely it'll be back since rating aren't too good. To be expected after the Red John Reveal. Happened to Twin Peaks back in the day as well.

As for this week's episode, for someone who's meant to be smart, Grace did something very stupid. Flagging down a vehicle near where she was being kept in the middle of nowhere. What are the chances of the person not being her kidnapper?

Good episode, but pity they didn't have the balls to kill off Rigsby. I really thought they had actually done it...

    Finale:
    Dash to Airport, seriously?
Liked it though, regardless of how cringey it was. :o

And I think that may be the series finale as far as I'm concerned

    One more season though.

It would have been a nice finale imo

Is it all a dream :p

Yeah, I thought this would be the final season so I stuck with it when I stopped watching other procedurals. I may watch the first and last episodes of next season, but I won't be worrying too much about it.

Of course, that'll probably change come next season. :)

Yep and Jane wakes up and goes to catch the real Red john.

So happy it finally happened :)

just watched Eps 11 through 13. Am liking the soft reboot. Nice to have a new mystery arc too. The strength of the series is, as it always has been, is Simon Baker and his effortless chemistry with the other actors.
There will be another season. The Mentalist is still huge in the States and Europe. It might, however, return on a different network if CBS doesn't renew it.

EDIT: yeah it will be back http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/cbs-renews-mentalist-cancels-crazy-703037

There is a new time starting for season 7 of The Mentalist which begins next Tuesday Night at 10:15pm on RTE One HD.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,080 ✭✭✭EoghanIRL

After 5 episodes of season 7 I'm not sure how I like the new direction .
Should have stopped it after Red John?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,840 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

    So 4 episodes left.

I was thinking watching this latest episode when Abbott was saying how they were all great friends, wasn't Jane originally more or less blackmailed into helping the FBI? Yet he and Lisbon talk about things as if they can leave at any time. Or is that something we're meant to forget?

They seem to have just forgotten completely about Jane joining the FBI, how about the list of names he had? The fact he was forced into it?

Also, if I was notified of a promotion while sitting in a field I think I would be well p1ssed off, I'm surprised the FBI don't have to internal interviews for promotions, I'd imagine Lisbon would be well p1ssed off to be passed over as well.

Yeah it's like the writers had an "ah f**k it, we're nearly finished.... who cares?" attitude.

I did like the two Dylan Baker episodes though.

I thinks it is fair to say it shouldn't be renewed .

I have a feeling that the final episode is going to be an absolute cringefest.

I hope I'm wrong, as I really enjoyed everything about the show, but as has often been said before they really should have called a halt after season 6.
