What to expect after defrosting Cherries?

    Bought a load a few weeks back when they were on special in Aldi

    Froze them individually on a baking tray and when frozen bagged them

    Can I expect them to be as close to the way they went into the freezer on defrosting?

    I wouldn't expect so.
    They'll probably be a bit soft - good for cooking with or making jam, though.

    Probably mushy. The producers making frozen food use quick freezing methods, and probably other tricks.

    Some foods fair worse, ones high in water are generally bad, mushrooms are supposed to come out really mushy.

    Yes, it's funny though if you freeze Strawberries or Raspberries individually then bag them and thaw them out the same way they come out almost just as good, fire them all into a bag and freeze them and on defrosting you'll have a bag of mush !

    Interesting, if done like this it might be similar to quick freezing, like a tray of ice cubes should freeze quicker than a tray of water. Maybe it would be better to have them fully refrigerated first too so they only have to drop a little in temp and the core will be cold and almost frozen.
