So, to get a discussion going....

Does a team NEED all 90s to do well?

Something that exists in this gameworld is the idea that once a player hits 90, they are worth golddust and are held on to pretty tightly. We strive for full 90+ teams.

But is there really that much of a difference between an 89 and a 90?

well, i'm lacking 90s in 3-4 position

I don't have any 90s and I'm struggling in Div 2. Hoping some of my young 86/87s get a jump as I can't afford 15m for an 89 that I've never even heard of, never mind a known 90

The only 90+ players I have are Eric Abidal (91, 34yo), Maicon (90, 32) and Hugo Campagnaro (90, 33).

Throw van Buyten in there at 88, 35yo and it gives me a relatively strong defense, but I worry that in a year or two these ratings will all start to drop.
And with D2 looking like a possibility after this GW season (fingers crossed), I could be in severe trouble, given my lack of funds to get in younger replacements.

I also would have sold him to Basel for 14m to be honest. Hamburg are sitting at the top of the league with a couple of 90s, a few 89s and a fair few 88s.

Basel's highest rated player is 87, and they only have 5 of them!!

I'm not too bothered over it mate, was thinking I'm better off with the 14m, I have to rebuild a whole squad so two 88's for 14m is more use to me than one 89
