Couldn't disagree more, I think she is possibly the funniest female comedian out there. Any stand up I've seen her do is brilliant.

Really liking the show too. Ratings are starting to drop though which is not a good sign for a second season.

Her stand up May he good but her character is extremely annoying and pointless in this show.

I'm sure she is as funny as you say but we certainly don't see it in this show.

My opinion could be influenced by the fact that I worked in an office with someone like her character, i.e. pretty useless who didn't do her job so that could be why I relate with the Gina character. Or I could just have my rose tinted fan glasses on!

I am loving this show. This is not a criticism, but does anyone else get a chevy chase vibe from Samberg? I definitely do.

I like Peretti but as the show hits its stride I do think her character is the one that the writers are struggling with the most.

She was very much a fringe character for the first few episodes but they've worked hard to ensure that she's considered to be part of the core group. It may have led to slight changes in character but I'm more than happy to see her be integral to the A story every once in a while like she was this week.

Absolute dirt. Saw a few minutes of it. Stupid non funny jokes, with the background laughing every two seconds.

There is no background laughter actually. Great contribution though.

No background laughing on this so you'll excuse me if i ignore the rest of your nonsense also. Enjoy it myself and is improving as the season progresses. Certainly better than some of the other rot out there like HIMYM

The most recent episode of TBBT was good but most of it is drole with the audience laughing uncontrollably but this just keeps getting better and better

The point of Gina is that she's useless. Doesn't do her job and is 'just there'. They'll have to give her something more to do in time and I can see they're working to do that but part of her appeal is her annoying nature. Characters change over time so I expect her to become more meaningful and less grating by the end of the season. I don't quite cringe while she's on screen but I'm not far off it either but it's funny. I think the last episode with the focus mainly on her and Peretti was very good actually. It gave her a chance to show another side to the character and a bit of depth.

Enjoying the show though we're it not for Hulu I could see myself falling way behind. It's a fun time killer but one that's easily forgotten about and the lack of any ongoing story means that it's not a show that you need worry about missing an episode of.

It does though, Peralta's relationship with Santiago and Boyle's wedding are all things you could miss along with his blossoming friendship with Diaz, thought we'd never see those two becoming good friends and they might kiss at some point because there is chemistry there.

Holt is brilliant in it and some of the comedy scenes surrounding him crack me up

Second season confirmed! Was looking a bit dodgy with the ratings drop but it looks like the golden globe winnings saved the day.

Walking down shop street in Galway today and saw Boyle and a few other TV and film stars milling about. They are in Ireland for a stag party. Would have liked to have went over and said hi but there were loads of people annoying them.

Yep, they were around Sligo for a day or two as well.

Loads of photos here - was in Hargadon's that evening too! :(

Finally got up with this show and its great. Andre Braugher is fantastic.

And Who knew Hitchcock and Scully can actually detect? Loved the “Yep. This. Is. Happening.” moment with the secret bathroom.

Oh yeah, kind of forgot it was a 22 episode season. That was a good episode, stays solid the rest of the way too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,383 ✭✭✭S.M.B.

That episode 16 was without the funniest episode of TV in the last 12 months. The finale was great too. As good as first season of a comedy that I can remember.

Well played Brooklyn Nine-Nine, well played.

I think It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia had several funnier episodes this season, just my POV of course.

One of the best sitcoms out there.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 614 ✭✭✭colinod0806

My biggest worry for this was that after a close to perfect season 1 that it might suffer from 2nd season syndrome. The Season 2 premiere got rid of that fear fairly quickly. Absolutely brilliant season opener, I was laughing for most of the episode.

Special mention for Terry playing an unattended backpack and Boyle's hatred of Derek, who he's never met:pac:

Charles is such a fantastic pathetic character. Steals the show every week.

His get-up at the end with the corn-rows was brilliant. My new life's ambition is to get that suit.

That was an absolute peach of an episode.

I guffawed multiple times at that episode. Strong start to the season.

Yeah, great to see the standard hasn't dropped... Easily the best sitcom out there at the moment...

Shame the ratings are on a downward spiral - hopefully it'll keep winning awards and that'll be enough for Fox to keep renewing it...

It did fairly well for the evening given the competition it had on NBC vis-à-vis the 'football'. It didn't do too much worse than Famiky Guy actually.

If it can continue to keep those numbers then it should be fine, but I'd worry that if it continues to drop it may be in trouble. It's still too early to get too caught up in ratings though - you never know, it could take an upswing yet...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,808 ✭✭✭squonk

Seriously have to wonder about ratings really if this show is dropping! It's quality. Family Guy should be dropping, the Simpsons should be dropping. Both those shows are going through the motions at this stage. B99 is clever and new and still cutting it's teeth.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,048 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Don't know.. I like the show but don't get the same amount of laughs from it as some other shows in their prime (P&R etc).

Gina still gets on my nerves and find Boyle a bit one-dimensional. Though Terry ticking as an "unattended backpack" did make me laugh harder than it should have! :D

Don't get me wrong.. it's well worth watching, but it's not the first comedy I'd watch each week!
