Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Now available to order on the lenovo site. Not available in SLI version:mad:
Standard version is 1199 , works out as 1019 after the 15% student discount. I'm looking for the SLI version with bigger SSD so won't be purchasing this.

Komplett are selling the same version for 999

I've gotta say the komplett price at €999 is a steal (€1,008.99 including delivery) You could buy a half decent ssd for 80/90 quid and install it yourself. Considering an 11-inch Macbook Air retails for €1,049 is robbery, this a great deal in comparison to other laptops in that price range for the spec of the Y510P.

Beware cheaper komplett version has less ram and dose not allow you to upgrade the warranty from 1 year to 3

LOL, they're already suggesting cooling pads or better thermal paste at the Lenovo forum to get the TurboBoost working.

Not really, SOL is selling a Haswell Core i7 MSI laptop with 8 GB RAM and a GT 740M for €770.

For the Komplett price, you'll get a Haswell Core i7 and a GTX 765M at PC Specialist.

We don't know if they will ever sell the Ultrbay GT 750M here, but the Ultrabay GT 650M for the older Y500p costs 270 yoyos at Lenovo.ie, which is pretty steep.

With the student deal you get the Y510p and 3 years warranty for €1,067.89

Right so off to grab an SSD from komplett.ie
    Samsung 840 Evo Series 500GB 2.5", 7mm, SATA600, read up to 540MB/s, write up to 520MB/s €309

Does that include 16GB ram and the two 750m GPUs? I've tried clicking the buy button several times but it doesn't show up in the cart. What's the deal with that?

    Edit: it works now!

I'm not really fond of the Clevo form factor, and the lack of backlit keyboard on that particular model isn't particularly appealing to me.

The backlit keyboard is nice indeed. But Lenovo not getting the cooling right and scr3wing up the TurboBoost is a serious problem. With a €1,000+ investment, you'd expect better.

I haven't read too much about the turboboost problems so thanks for the heads up. Can you elaborate on what exactly the issues with it are?

    Cheers!

I have posted a link and quote to a review at notebookcheck in my reply #30 in this thread. Bottom line, when push comes to shove (i.e. TurboBoost kicks in) the older Y500p with its Ivy Bridge processor outperforms the Y510p by quite some margin. Flicking through the discussion at the Lenovo forum, they say it is also overheating quite easily and then throtteling the CPU. Maybe not so much of an issue when the Y510p is used as advertised, a "multimedia laptop", but certainly a problem for gamers.

How long does it usually take for Lenovo to deliver? I order on the 17th but my order is still being processed.

Ordered on the 17th too and it just shipped today. You will get an e-mail once it ships. Transit time seems to be 5 days from the Netherlands.

Well been using it here for the last three weeks and can't complain. Did swap out the 1TB drive for 500GB SSD which I'm sure dose improve the performance. Erased all the lenovo crap too and put a fresh copy of windows 8 on it.

    Edits HD video just fine
    Speakers are quite nice
    Screen is nice and crisp
