Cake for christening

Hi all I have to bake a cake for nephews christening any ideas, I was thinking choc fudge cake but maybe something lighter would be better , thanks

What about chocolate madeira/sponge cake covered in ganache or icing? I made one for a friends birthday that was pretty simple, it was just a chocolate sponge, with strawberries between the layers with ganache drizzled over them and the entire cake was covered in chocolate ganache with some strawberries on top. It looked similar to this, but mine has less strawberries and ganache around the outside of the cake I used a fork on my ganache so it didn't look plain.



My cousin had a chocolate biscuit cake for her daughters Christening, which went down well with all the guests, although I personally don't like CBC, I find it heavy and sickly sweet, but it is very popular.

What about a lemon/vanilla madeira and you could ice it if you wanted?

A few ideas here, I would avoid the mousse cakes though if there will be pregnant women at the Christening, as I don't think its safe for them to eat, although I could be wrong.
