Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How much to pay for iPad 1 ??

I want to pick up an iPad 1 for my musician father so he stops borrowing my iPad 2. I fear that one of these days it will get nicked at a gig.

I originally thought to myself that I'd pick him up an iPad 2 and assumed they'd be cheap enough given that the iPad 4 is out. Holy S**T was I in for a shock. Cheapest iPad 2 on Apple used site was €450 for a 32gig. Assume 16gig would be about €350. Probably not a surprise to you lot but given that I got mine from Australia when my mother was over there with discount because of iPad 3 launch, getting her aussie VAT back when she exited the country and not getting charged customs and Vat when she re-entered Ireland. Well I paid €280 for an unopened never used iPad 2. So thats why I was surprised that 2 years later the things are still €350 here. :D

I did then realise that for my fathers usage a 16gig Wifi only iPad 1 would be more than enough for him. He just uses mine for web browsing and running a backing track app at gigs. Unfortunately this particular app remains the only one with all the features he needs. No android backing track app has the particular feature set he needs, so we're stuck with IOS.

So whats the most I should pay for a 16gig Wifi only iPad 1??

I wouldn't pay more than 200 max tbh.

Be careful to ensure the app works on the iPad 1. That doesn't run latest iOS.

My advice is get the lowest spec ipad mini refurb... 310 euro or so.

For musicians the full size iPad is better. Source: experience.

Remember that iPad 2 16GB wifi is still on Apple's catalogue -that's why it still commands full price. Unlike the original and the third-generation, it continues to be manufactured and sold.

    +1 on this.

If he uses amplitube or similar it won't work on iPad1
