Would not write off the chance of some wet snow on Christmas day looking at latest ECMWF EPS output!

The EPS mean maxima for the day is 4c for sea level in Dublin!

    Serious question -

I wonder what effect brussel sprouts will have on this over the christmas period.

Looks quite poor from a (decent) cold prospect point of view. Occasional cold shots between now and Christmas and then possibly a quick flirt with colder uppers around the New Years Eve period. Without proper blocking we will only get brief colder shots which is a pity given the favourable position of the Polar Vortex. Bigger changes second half of January and into February but that's too far off.

Line of thinking for any SSW event this winter, is Feb at best!! :(

Any chance for blocking, would take a but hit if this is the case.

Not saying, winter is finished, just looks like a average Irish winter now. :(

Winter has dissapeared in main land Europe. High pressure dominating from Azures up to siberia. We had lots of snow and nice cold late November but since its just been sunny cool days and cold nights. Very settled.

Aghhhhh! I'm so fed up with this boring weather! Justa give me a least a hard frost? A little glittery frost on the ground and in the trees would make me feel so much more festive.

Apart from convection on the W coast, GFS 06z has a band of precipitation crossing the country tomorrow afternoon...more hill snow?

  • Registered Users Posts: 187 ✭✭Lenny5

Looks like snow for the west and northwest tonight and possibly tomorrow before the warmer stuff returns.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,164 ✭✭✭Rebelbrowser

Its getting lost in all the excitement over the storm but GFS is still suggesting Santa may need Rudolph to see through the snow falling on Christmas Eve.....(will be washed away by tyhe morning though sadly)

I'm on the northeast of the island at the moment. No snow and the rain is just starting to clear.
