I'm on the northeast of the island at the moment. No snow and the rain is just starting to clear.

Obviously talking out of his hole then!

U have to love the Irish weather. Last weeks forecasting for the rest of the month was for mild and now it's a healthy mix of cold mild cold maybe snow lol

Will it be a cold and snowy start to spring 2014? Back to the present, looking forward to seeing some proper snow showers later tonight. The BBC precipitation charts look encouraging on that score!

Not necessarily. It can seem like two completely different climates sometimes depending on whether you are on the north or the south of the island, or else upper or lower Achill.

Why don't RTE have a presenter in Donegal Town instead of Cork!

Why don't RTE have a presenter in Donegal Town instead of Cork!

I think they had a reporter live from Donegal once, warning people not to visit because of bad weather promised, then people started cancelling reservations, then the weather never materialised and then some hotels threatened to sue them or ME for costing them business.

    Still snowing here near Arklow.
A covering at low levels inland now and very white from what I can see below the cloud level from about 100 mtrs up.
Cans see higher due to visibility

Posted in the other thread too before checking here... There was snow on the mountains above Roundwood this morning when I left. I'd guess the snow line was around 250m (close but no cigar for me this time!).

Sleet showers here, but a light snow covering on the Galtees from about 200m upward I'd say. Shall take a stroll up there in an hour or two. I'm only recovering from knee and ankle problems though, so won't be able to go too far. Hopefully I'll be able to get a few nice pics.

At least we're in with a shout of somewhere seeing snow over the next week, with the set up the way it is. When and where? Simply impossible to nail down until 6 or 12 hrs before I would guess. Bookies will be very nervous next week, if you are taking a punt, read the small print!

What kind of a bookies was that!! A 100/1 on something that is probably 15/1 likelihood or less!!
