That's a great temperature for the second shortest day of the year! Are the tubes or flat panels?

Has anyone peaked one of the big mountains in winter when its blowing a gale at sea-level? Exposed peaks like Lug, Galtymore, Carrauntoohill, Brandon?
I am half tempted to try Galtymore on Tuesday.

I'd agree with SnowDrifts, Tuesday would just be too dodgy.

I got caught in a very blustery snow shower at the end of March 2010 on Galtymore. The top of the mountain was frozen, so the wind literally slid me along the top. I had to lie down, dig my heels in and wait for it to pass over. I'm not sure if that would have worked in hurricane force winds!

This is what is was like before the strong winds moved in!

The winds weren't nearly as bad then as they look on Tuesday.

Yes, milder air associated with the next low pressure system. Then back down again for Christmas Eve, about 4/5 degrees in most places with wintry showers.

Just had a snow shower in North Kildare, looks like there could me more on the way. Real feel here is -2.0, DP is -1.8.

shower has turned back to light rain, it showed so much potential seeing as it was freezing beforehand and looks like heavy precipitation on radar but is nothing more than light rubbish! everythings melted now too so temps on the rise.

I see from the radar what happened, the shower broke up as it hit me, only the northern and southern end of the shower surviving, sun back out.
