Just had a hail shower here in west dublin, quickly turned to quite a heavy sleety snow flurry. Unfortunatly it didn't stick as the ground was saturated .The shower lasted about 10/15b minutes but its cleared up again now.

Sure, it's the only part of Ireland that matters.

I'd agree with SnowDrifts, Tuesday would just be too dodgy.

I got caught in a very blustery snow shower at the end of March 2010 on Galtymore. The top of the mountain was frozen, so the wind literally slid me along the top. I had to lie down, dig my heels in and wait for it to pass over. I'm not sure if that would have worked in hurricane force winds!

I wasn't considering Tuesday! That is a storm. I am talking about a general windy day at sea level and very windy at peak. I have been blown around the place on top of Galtymore before but its a relative safe and grassy mountain if you stay away from the cliffs etc.

We're beating Dublin hands down this year in Galway. Some crazy weather the last few days :)

That's a great temperature for the second shortest day of the year! Are the tubes or flat panels?

Thought that too.... They are panels...

Another heavy shower about hit Dublin..:D

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,557 ✭✭✭The tax man

Just back down from a drive up past Kippure. Nothing much on the way up,some edge of the road sticking snow from Cruagh to the Northern facing slopes over the feather beds. Heading towards Glencree there was nothing on the roads, sheltered from the higher ground to the north. Even Kippure only seemed to have a dusting from the vantage point I had. Then those heavy black clouds rolled across the edge of the hills. Completely different picture coming back down.

That view then turned to this,

Cruagh road on the way back down,

Got to the stage where two wheel drive cars were having difficulty getting up and down. Driven over snow turning to solid ice.
