If its any consolation, we have had a Siberian blast the last week (Poland). Usually we are dominated by a Russian high for February, as its the coldest month here. But after Weather forecasters here predicting a very cold February, last nights TV forecast stated a backtrack saying the Atlantic is going to become too powerful and dominant from the end of this week, so all of Europes weather will be dictated by the Atlantic. -21 here this morning, but by the weekend it will be more like 0. It seems as soon as the Low pressures head north instead of south it spoils it for everyone!

There was a large amount of activity on that map around 10pm-1am last night and I was unaware there was a nearby thunderstorm.

The map auto-updates so it's not showing now what it was last night.

I was on a train from Dublin to cork last night and the track was struck by lightening and blew all the signals near thrules around 10 o clock during a snow shower. so I think there was thunder snow around. or else the train driver thought we should all sit on a train in the middle of nowhere for 2 hours. while engineers walked around the track.

and again from day 7 onwards. Purely FI so unlikely to happen but this morning's output has an almost Feb '90 look about them. Hopefully we can get those projected higher temps into western Europe by then to help tighten the temp gradient even more to help beef up potential.

Despite the sunshine and high temps,there are still small snow drifts at the coillte woods above 800ft 5miles west of Arklow from Sunday's snow showers!.
I'd imagine these showers are still falling as wet snow right on the peak of Lugnaquilla.
There is good cover up there.
Models are copping on to the vigorous Atlantic now ,less mirage runs.

At my house its is 98f ASL and 5 min drive north it is 569f ASL so I'm in some kinda hope this week

Higher ground all this week. Keep an eye on where the minus 5 850,s are.

There will be warm sectors within these 850,s temputures. Go by each GFS run as a guide.

You would want to be hiking in the Dublin Wicklow Rockies all this week to catch some snow.
