The Cold Open to the next Star Trek Film is going to be epic.

interesting that hes only '6 months to live', so he says and yet the flash forward has him looking grand and with lots of hair.

He asked Skylar about it. He probably thinks Hank has it after their confrontation but he can't be sure. It was a bit daft how quickly he noticed it missing but they have to move the show along quickly

Surely the most obvious throwback in this episode to that aspect of the show was Walt's dealings with Lydia in the carwash, which was almost a carbon copy of Walt's encounters with Gus in Los Pollos Harmanos.

    very good shout

Walt in the house looking at the Heisenberg graffiti was a great image. The more I think about the episode the better it gets. Have no problem with Walt figuring out about the book too quickly, he's a smart lad!

Awesome episode. The last 5 minutes. Wow! Some of the best acting I've seen on TV in ages.

Has Jesse finally lost it now?

Seeing HEISENBERG written in the house in the flashforward gave me goosebumps
The question is: was it written by a bunch of harmless skater kids and squatters or was it written as a kind of sarcastic homage by Gus' allies after a violent event? It was beautifully done. After all, this is all Walt has ever wanted - to make a name for himself, to be infamous. And here is that "cool" name he chose, scrawled on the wall of his living room.

I was sure the show wouldn't have any humour to it anymore, but I'm glad it does. That and the "Hi, Carol"s were hilarious.

Question: are we to assume that Walt left Todd making the meth, accounting for the drop in quality?

Other question: Does Marie not know about Hank's panic attacks? I was sure they had talked about them, at least indirectly?

I hope Todd doesn't feature much anymore. I never cared for him

    I have a feeling he won't!

He knows a little too much and what he does know has potential to screw over Walt and Jesse and the remainder of their friendship.

Other than the fact he has a pretty high billing on the credits?

    Walt gets the ricin imo.

If I had to guess the Heisenberg lettering will be done by Walt himself during the aftermath of an upcoming argument, may be the final argument with Skyler who will now leave with the kids upon finding out Hank knows who Walt really is. Walt has developed a terrible ego, the Heisenberg lettering could also be his taunt towards Hank, leaving such a marking to show he was under Hanks nose the whole time.

I doubt it. With how his neighbour obviously knows who he is, I'd say everyone knows. The kids skateboarding probably just think it's cool they're in Heisenberg's house and spraypainted it on the wall.

For me, Carol looked more stunned than scared when she saw him in the FF, like she had seen a ghost. I reckon at some point, Walt will be presumed dead (or somehow stage his own death which may be a bit of a stretch). I think that fits well with how he can walk around unnoticed with his new identity. Also, Saul mentioned previously (some time in season 4 iirc) that he knew a guy who could make that possible for Walt and his family.

If that's true, I reckon Walt is about to pull off something huge in the FF, as he's at a point where he doesn't care about his 'cover' being blown (since he so openly addressed Carol) as well as having just picked up that M60 which in itself suggest he may be about to cause a little bit of mayhem.

    Another great episode.

    The FF was excellently done

Hanks reaction to finding out was very well done.

Walt draws parallels to Gus in the carwash and even getting sick but Walts ego couldnt let the tracker go. He would have gotten away with it if he played the cat & mouse game like Gus did. Hank wouldnt have been able to get sufficient evidence as Walt is out of the game.

Jesse is just a loose cannon at this stage

The operation that Lydia is working is going cause issues for Walt. They will force him to come back, either by taking Jesse or his family (or both). I think that what stockpiling of weapons is for in the FF.

Got a lol at the crime scene photos Hank was going through (the picture where Hank sticks his head in laughing)

It was always going to be a quick deduction by Walt to know it was Hank. Who was in the house since the last time he saw the book? Skylar didnt know he had the book, they both laughed at the idea of Junior taking it. Who used the bathroom? Hank left because of a stomach bug and hasnt been to work all week......penny drops. Walt was with Hank when he went 'rogue' to confirm his suspicions about Gus Fring, he knows a fair bit about how Hank works.

Walt issuing Hank a threat was a great scene. Walt tried his manipulating tactics that worked on people in the drug business but it bounced off Hank. The unstoppable force met an immovable object!

I have a terrible Breaking Bad sleep deprivation hangover at work from staying up late to watch it. I don't think I can do this again next week.

    Yet, I know I will.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,317 ✭✭✭gavmcg92

That final scene had me on the edge of my seat. I didn't think the confrontation would be this early!

Also nice to see the link up with the future which we were teased with in the last season. Similarly to season 1, I have no idea how we get from where we are now to then and what the damage will be leading up to those scenes. Perhaps the final episode will be where that resin comes into play.

Excellent episode and a great start to the end of what has been one of the greatest series on tv!

Thoughts after seeing the first episode,

I can't believe we got a confrontation between Hank and Walt right in the first episode! This makes things very interesting for the remaining seven.

Does anybody else occasionally glance at the seek bar on these episodes with mild apprehension? The time never seems enough and it goes by quick.

Jesse needs to snap out of the funk he's in. I know he's been through the ringer emotionally and in real life, his state would be completely understandable but dramatically speaking, it won't do for the final 8 eps. to consist of him moping around, nearly catatonic.

Was it hubris that compelled Walt to let Hank know that Walt knew about the GPS tracker? What did Walt think was going to happen when he produced that to Hank? Hank would back down? Was Walt just through caring?

I think it's a mistake to write Walt's cancer back into the story. Not that it ever went completely away but now that it's looking terminal, to hear Walt tell it, you really are burning a bridge. I know that Gilligan wants to go out classily and with a sense of finality but, damnit, sometimes a story is just too good and BB is definitely one. Besides, if there's enough demand for more BB in some shape or form then AMC will probably find a way to deliver it with or without Gilligan at the helm. I would have preferred a deal where it was kept open ended but would only be continued in some way when Gilligan felt the time was right.

On the other hand, just because Walt says he's dying doesn't mean he will, so there's that.

Hank's cheesy Schraderbrau label is hilarious.

The shopping dropping was such a cliche , I don't think shopping bags are allowed to be dropped on tv unless it has rollable objects in it.

While Breaking Bad has been on it's break I've only started to watch other highly rated contemporary TV such as Suits and Game of Thrones, but this episode reminded me that BB is different class.

I agree , the new episode was great.

" if I was you I'd thread lightly" - its going to be good. Can't wait for the rest.

Absolutely great episode, so glad its back again.
Poor Jesse, he is really on the edge, and Walt is asking him to trust him after all he has done on him- his girlfriend/ Mike. If the police get a hold of him in that state for some misdemeanor- like littering gardens with 10k bundles of notes, it wouldn't bode too well.
I wonder is Walt being truthful in saying he has 6 months?
Bloody great end scene with Hank slugging Walt in the garage and accusing him of being Heisenberg. Walts reply at the end was pretty menacing - so much for an apology- he just gets worse.
And the waiting's worser again :(

Well the episode was brilliant, went fast as hell thou. And from next weeks premier and this episodes flashback to the future, its guaranteed that Walt gonna become lose canon, since Jessie become so depressed and doesn't care anymore,Walt will have to deal with him and Hank is his second problem two of which is huge problems for Walt,as he was always willing to risk his life for Jessie, and Hank is part of the Family so killing one of them will be hard decision, but deffo hell have to kill Lydia as she want Walt back ant that not happening as she is another huge risk of exposing him,but he wouldn't have troubles doing her  .Only way we can see Walt still being free in the beginning is he took Sals escape card, and is coming back for Hank.Anyway just more guesses :)

Great choices for both,as off topic suits becoming a bit messed up,hopefully that gets corrected or might be the last season,Game of thrones its all different world, like someone said pornhub+add any sick fantasies to it and some salt with some twisted humor:D

wat a joke, how would walt realise that hank got the book

He noticed the book missing. It's obviously what he reads while sitting on the throne so would notice it gone.

He had a look around the house and even asked Skyler about it.

Hank was there very recently and left in an awful hurry.

Hank has been hunting Heisenberg for over a year now, hence why Walt got suspicious and checked the car.

The tracker was the same as what Hank has previously used.

The only people that could have taken it were Hank, Marie, Skyler and Walt Jr. Two of those were dismissed when he spoke to Skyler. Marie was eliminated when he found the tracker. It makes perfect sense.

What are the chances that there'll be a round two of sorts between Hank and Jesse? Is there still a restraining order? Does it matter? I have to think that at some point, in Hank's quest to connect the dots, he'll arrive back at Pinkman and Jesse's not in much of a fit state to resist scrutiny or interrogation. He's chucking wads of bills into hedges. These probably aren't the actions of a man who cares about covering his tracks or evading the law anymore. I don't think Jesse would even notice if he got put in prison.

Hank's at something of an impasse with Walt right now. The next move is uncertain. When he thinks back to the RV in the impound lot and Jesse being Walt's 'pot dealer' and he starts to make connections, he has to make a move. It's his golden ticket to blowing the case wide open

To those wondering/hoping about BB continuing in the future, I think the only thing we know about the ending of the show is that it will be the absolute end. AMC tends to listen to its writers, there's a reason they've gone from a channel showing repeats of old movies to arguably the best producer of television drama in a few years.

I think, even though it was only a month, Walt was antsy being out of the game. He couldn't help himself but confront Hank.

Could be, could not be. That scene where he baldly lied to Jesse's face about Mike ("I need you to believe me") was disgusting. His faux-empathy with Jesse's depression, as if he struggles with things rather than revels in them. He's obviously comfortable lying about anything.

I don't think Hank will pursue Jesse as aggressively as he will Walt. He knows he's not the big fish. You could see a flicker of regret when he was yelling at Walt about how he let him beat up Jesse, about how it was Walt who made him think Marie was dead or seriously injured.

Plus, as you said, Jesse is in no state to deceive or to defend himself. It would be like kicking a puppy.

In most ways, the decision to put a full stop to the series is the right one but the hunger from fans for the story to continue in some way will remain strong. Basically, it means we'll have to content ourselves with repeats, message boards, a possible video game and fan fiction of varying quality.

Well, there's always the Spanish language version ("Metastasis") which has yet to be filmed, so that will be something "new". And if that Saul spinoff actually happens, it could be good.

If he pursues Walt more than Jesse, it'll be because of Hank's tendency to let personal vendettas cloud his judgement. Jesse's played a huge part in the whole thing, too. I understand that Hank must be going through an absolute rollercoaster but when -if- he calms down, maybe he'll start trying to figure out who was around Walt. It mightn't even be a case of interrogating Jesse as Jesse may be fully willing to comply. The only reason he hasn't turned himself in is because of his state of dazed, depressive inertia.

That is all in the episode preceding this which I watched last night. I didn't get any clear indication that he was out to be honest. I thought Walt was just doing the right thing with Jesse. Buying him out
