Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Looking to buy first tv but little confused about what to look out for.

Led v Lcd.....from what I gathered online led seems better?

Words like 'backlit' and 'edge lit' ....not sure which one is the better here??

What do the refresh rates mean and what number should I be looking for?

    Is the 3d worth it?

When I was purchasing a new TV I had the choice of LED, LCD, Plasma and while I took my time to deliberate I eventually went with the LED as it's the newest technology and the TV in question was the best suited to my requirements.

LCD TV’s use cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL’s) to provide backlighting, whereas LED TV’s use an array of smaller, more efficient light emitting diodes (LED’s) to illuminate the screen, which gives them a few advantages. LED’s also consume less power than their CCFL counterparts, but the most important difference between the two is a feature called local dimming – a selective lighting technique that allows for deeper blacks and better overall picture.
