Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Benefits of a rowing machine

    We're thinking of getting a rowing machine for home. I've had a look through previous threads and I know that a Concept 2 is considered the best, but we've only one lowish salary between us at the moment, so we're not going to be able to stretch to that right now, before anyone recommends it.

    What I'd actually like to know, though, is what is the rowing machine specifically beneficial for? I know it's good cardio, but how is it for strength and toning? What areas see the most benefit from it/ what results would you expect to see?

    I own a rowing machine, generally legs, upper back, shoulders, arms would all get a workout.
    And with some equipment you can vary the resistances along with changing your hand holding position to work on biceps more etc.

    But to be honest rowing on its own on a machine is fairly boring I tend to alternate it with runs etc.

    concept2 is the best of all the cardio machines you can get. If you do buy one find some one to show you the correct form.

    You can do some great metcon's with a rower and aiming to beat your distance times 1000m, 2000, 5000, etc can keep you motivated.

    I'd echo to get someone to show you how to use it properly. It's painful watching everyone in my local gym abusing the **** out of it (gym instructors included).



    I've only ever used Concept2's & RowPerfect's (both excellant). As always buy cheap, buy twice.

    I've puked after many ergo sessions, treat it with respect and you will too..
