A friend has been working for a company for less than a year. It has recently been taken over and he has been told he has to move to a regional office, work extra hours and take a large paycut as the salaries in the regional office are lower!

He's been told to take it or leave it - that's the offer! He feels he has no choice to a accept it as otherwise he'll probably be let go. He's the only one that has to move!

    Any advice?????

Less then a year; he's basically out of luck on that one.

He's the only one there less than a year so that probably why he's been targeted so! So much for employee rights!

    So much for Irish law.

He should speak to his TD and lobby for change if he's unhappy. That's how democracy works.

Would this not count as a transfer of business/undertaking, and as such the employee's conditions should be kept the same? (http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employment/employment_rights_and_conditions/contracts_of_employment/transfer_of_business.html)

Probably does fall under this but as he is there less than a year he can't bring a claim against employer according to nera
