    Hello.

I recently bought a 500GB Super Slim(http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00B2GIWPQ). I have a BenQ G420HDB monitor(http://www.benq.com/product/monitor/g2420hdb/). It has only DVI and VGA input. It is apparently fully HDCP compliant and I use it all the time at 1920x1080 with my PC.

My intention was to connect the PS3 to the monitor using this(http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003VR8OZW) HDMI<->DVI adaptor along with a normal HDMI cable. This does not work, but it should. My monitor displays "No cable connected!". Clearly something is happening since turning the PS3 on wakes the monitor up, but no picture is being driven.

Things I have tried with no avail:
    • Reset the video options by holding the power button for 5 seconds: no effect
    • Connected PS3 to a HDTV I have access to, using the HDMI cable. Works fine, full picture as expected
    • While connected to the TV, changed the video settings to the lowest setting of 720p and then connected to the monitor. No effect.
    • Connected my PC's HDMI out to my monitor using the HDMI cable/DVI adaptor. Worked fine as expected.
    • Set computer resolution to 720p and then immediatly disconnect HDMI cable and connect to PS3. No effect, no picture.
    • Power cycled both my monitor and the PS3. No effect.
    • Pressed 'left' and then 'X' on the controller after starting up the PS3, in case it is displaying this(http://dme.ghost2.net/hdfury_bak/images/availablehdmidetected79.jpg) screen. No effect.

So I am out of ideas. My current thinking is that Sony have simply removed the ability for the PS3 to connect to monitors by some kind of HDCP setting. IS that true? If not, do you know of any way around my problem? Everything I have read and seen says that this should work. I have the option of getting a HDMI->DVI cable or another adaptor, but that will either take days to arrive or be exorbitantly expensive, so I'd rather not have to.

Does anyone know anywhere in Dublin where I can buy a cable like this : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Neet%C2%AE-Digital-Video-HIGH-SPEED-ADVANCED/dp/B001LIWDZK/ ? Needs to be HDCP compliant.

Thanks, yeah, from other forums I've been talking to that's the consensus arising as well. I'm going to pick this up tomorrow, reckon it will be HDCP compliant? http://www.maplin.co.uk/hdmi-to-dvi-digital-video-leads-48585

It's disgusting highway robbery at those prices, but I need it now unfortunately.

Can you post a link to the item you won on eBay as well? That would be very helpful.

Ok, issue resolved, I got a direct HDMI->DVI cable and it works perfectly. Audio is not a problem, got a phono->3.5mm adaptor and connected to my PC speakers.

Moral of the story is don't get HDMI->DVI adaptors, they don't work for PS3.
