    Bowling?

I'm up for this. I like the premise as I'm a dry balls non drinker for the most part and as successful as the other meetup group(s) are, I think a few daytime thingies would be cool too.

    Bowling isn't cheap,,sadly..

This is from the Mardyke Entertainment Complex..

    Peak €8.50 Per game ... €24.00/Half Hour

Off Peak €6.50 Per Game ... €19.00/Half Hour.

Love Bowling as well, but those prices are not very encouraging.

    Public rowing every Saturday.
Always complete beginners there and people of all ages and from all backgrounds - very friendly.

    How about running?

I find it kind of boring myself but when you're in a group, stick to 9/10 minute mile pace and have a chat it can be fun. Loads of good routes around Cork.

There's no really good time I could actually do it at the moment though. :o The only time I'd be free would be Saturday afternoons when I'm off shift, which won't be for weeks, but maybe somebody else could organise it?

Thank this post if interested :)

Thanks for getting the thread started!

    Things I would suggest:

Surfing/bodyboarding etc. at a beach not too far from Cork.
Cycling, maybe mountain biking in Ballyhoura.
Sailing - much cheaper if you can get a gang together
    Mountain climbing

I know it's not free/cheap but there are always good groupons.

I'm planning a hike for tomorrow if anyone is interested in joining. There are two of us so far. We're planning to hike a trail near Crosshaven (but this could change). PM me if interested. Might be able to carpool from city with shared petrol.

We're using this map to find a place to hike: http://www.irishtrails.ie/trails.aspx?c=Cork

Does anyone know, is the one in Crosshaven just that footpath along the water? We're looking for slightly more rugged terrain.

Its €35 to rent the bikes up there plus €5 per car for parking. Its good fun but expensive. It hurts too if you crash as i found out last year. A cheaper mountain bike wouldnt stand up to much abuse on the trails so i wouldnt advise bringing your own bike unless the shocks and brakes are of a very high standard.
There is a lot of walking trails down there tho and on a fine day it would be a nice/cheap option. Still €5 per car but that goes to coilte and the money is put back into the upkeep of the walking/bike trails so good value.

I've gone a few times and really enjoyed it. Not every event will be cheap/free. So, come along to whatever you feel comfortable with. There will be all types of activities.

I would be interested in doing a hike on a Saturday if it was somewhere not too far from the city. One of the "moderate" walks on that link would be ideal. Not too long and not too short.
