sailing Shannon estuary

Just looking for anyone that knows any hazards or reasons not to sail in the shannon estuary. Thinking about launching on the limerick side and sailing just west of the airport area. Its a windsurfing board so launching/slip ways not a problem, just wondering what tidal flows/depths are like.

    Thanks

Best reason I can think of is that Lough Derg is only a few miles away...

If you really want to sail on the estuary I'd give Foynes Yacht Club a ring. They'd be able to advise you. 065-65261

As Tea mentioned though, Lough Derg is only a few miles away, there's often lads out windsurfing on the lake!
