Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I thought everyone could make one bold prediction for the new season and come back here in May and see were we right. I will go first, Bent will score more league goals than Benteke, at least 5 more.

I haven't felt safer going into a Premier League season in over a decade, to be honest.

United to win the league seems to be a bold prediction at this stage.

No one giving us a chance, only a few in the predictions thread has us 1st.

    Leeds to win some matches.

If you don't mind a bit of Championship action in here.

I hope he's a huge success at Fulham, because it means they'll buy him off us, but for him to get 5 more than Benteke he'd need to finish as the league's top scorer, or close to it - and Fulham don't score enough goals in general for that to happen.

He's got 10-15 in him, but he's barely played in 2 years

Robin Van Persie to score more than 5 goals this season.

Can't see him getting another job in the PL to be honest. It's abundantly clear he's a throwback to a methodology that doesnt work any more

Eden Hazard to win the PFA Player of the Year award.
Robin Van Persie to underperform (by his standards) and Man Utd's season to falter due to a heavy reliance on him.
Swansea to finish ahead of Liverpool.

I hope those are bold enough.

The title race to be between the Manchester clubs while Chelsea and Spurs fight it out for third. A rejuvenated Rooney to win Player of the year, with Soldado top scorer. Stoke to challenge for a European spot

united to finish outside the top 4.
Newcastle to implode, with kinnear as manager at some time during the season.
liverpool to be comfortably 6th....5+ points behind 5th and 5+ ahead of 7th.
    'Arry to stoke

Liverpool to finish outside of top 6.

Torres to finish in the top 2 goalscorers.

Arsenal to finish ahead of United.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,462 ✭✭✭✭WoollyRedHat

Swansea to win the Europa league. Swansea to hover dangerously close ( but not close enough) to relegation zone as a result.

ETA: I don't like being limited to one.. so hear goes.

Arsenal to win league. ( I hasten to add I have a bet with two people for this to happen, one at 100 euro evens.... and the other 100 euro at 6/1 odds.)

Norwich and Aston Villa to both feature in top 10, alongside Sunderland. Either Norwich or Aston Villa to qualify for a Europa league place.

    Liverpool top at Christmas.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,128 ✭✭✭NabyLadistheman

Do Canio first manager to get the boot

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,084 ✭✭✭✭Kirby

This will be Wengers last season.

I had a feeling about Fergie last year and ignored it. So this time I'm listening to my gut and getting my prediction in early so I can quote this when it happens. :P

Its his last year of his current contract is it not?

So its a very 50/50 call and not that bold a prediction, IMO. :pac:

    - Manchester United to perform even worse than expected (4th over 15 points from 1st).
    - Stoke to end up relegated after Hughes makes a disastrous attempt to get them to play football. Hughes himself to be sacked around Christmas.
    - Ricky van Wolfswinkel to be this season's Michu.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

    Stoke relegated
Pochettino (?) to get sacked first

Norwich to finish in the top 8

Chelsea, Spurs, Man City, United, Liverpool, in that order.

Really? Wenger has historically let his contracts run down more than other managers before re-signing.

The same Wenger who hasn't won anything in years and is still backed to the hilt by his board? Who has been at the club for 17 odd years?

You think it's 50/50? Wouldn't want to bet in a bookies that you owned! Those odds are terrible :P

I'd be very surprised if he is manager next year at Arsenal though, given the contract situtation, a very realistic chance of no silverware and no top 4 this season.

It certainly wouldnt be a big shock IMO if he was bumped upstairs or to just retire, we'll see I suppose. :pac:
