Would anybody know how long-term cancer patients are dealt with under the Partial Capacity Benefit Scheme? How much of their invalidity pension payment are they being allowed to keep if they go back to working a few hours per week?

It depends on how incapacitated the claimant is by the cancer. If the claimant is severely incapacitated (in a wheelchair, on oxygen) or moderately incapacitated (well enough but only able for a few hours).

Be aware that the SW medical examiner may decide when he meets you that you are actually well enough that you no longer even need Invalidity Pension and that you may return to work full time if you wish.

I’ve never seen this happen but it remains a possibility nonetheless. Mostly people are classed as moderately incapacitated and get to keep 1/2 their IP to supplement their wages.

Pretty much what TooTired says. Also bare in mind that you need permission from the Department before taking up employment or your payment may be affected adversely.

Once the application form is submitted you'll get a letter stating your application has been received and it will take about 6-8 weeks for it to be processed. Once you get your result letter it will be valid for 12 months so if you get a job offer you then contact PCB by phone or email with your start date so they can put the claim into payment.
