Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Thought BT commentary is pretty decent.

Not as bad as I thought it would be.

He's snuffed out Stoke coming out of their half countless times and allowed us to maintain pressure on them - that and a number of lovely forward passes, have I missed something?

    Needless fouls
He's been doing ok. Thought Aspas is playing well.

You never answered my second question !!

Good first half. Sturridge/Coutinho/Lucas being highlights. Mignolet being a big negative, seems all over the shop coming for crosses & seems uncomfortable with the ball at his feet.

Agree with all of that. Expected as such from Mignolet. Sturridge has a load of goals in him this year you'd think.

Would like Gerrard and Hendo to get more into the game and Sterling to come on at 65mins, Ibe if we're somehow 3 up

People complaining about Lucas need to get a grip - he's single-handedly holding back Stoke in midfield.

  • Site Banned Posts: 26,456 ✭✭✭✭Nuri Sahin

Only change I'd make is Henderson off for Ibe or Sterling after 10-15 mins if the former doesn't wake up, can move Coutinho centrally then.

mignolet needs to be more aware of who is around him though

Wouldn't be suprised to see Alberto come in for Henderson - he doesn't offer the speed of closing down players as Henderson does, but he's better at retaining the ball and playing an incisive pass

I just hope he makes it through half time analysis uninjured!

More central, Sturridge is more likely to be widest up front.

I thought Lucas was our best player.

Not sure what Henderson offers apart from work rate.

Henderson makes me want to pull my hair out.

Coutinho on the other hand is so good! Two beautiful through balls that should have been converted.

Agreed. Nearly wish we had Cissokho or Siqueira on the bench to bring on for Enrique though.

He's annoying me this game, even if a little irrationally.

Lucas has been like a brickhouse, has made some great passes and cleared the ball off the line.

Or did I imagine him having a great half?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,473 ✭✭✭✭Super-Rush

The game is passing Henderson by.

Allen, Sterling or Ibe will replace him.

Only because he was very good in the first half.

It's not a Lucas love in.

It's an observation on the first half.

Analysis of why Stoke are losing after the break....I look forward to Pulis' comments.

'They are not hoofing it high enough, or far enough, and the ref is biased.'

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,564 ✭✭✭✭OwaynOTT

Henderson a bit off the pace. Liking the look of Aspas. Countinho despite being closed down very quickly still effective. Sturridge is a great signing.
Still very easy to get a break on though, look at Stoke hitting the post.

Have to say, I was getting very apprehensive that the same old pattern would repeat itself. Thank The Studge we scored.

Gerrard was fantastic for the first 35 minutes. But for the last ten when Stoke applied the pressure, he was too high up the pitch.

you know what though, he has been weird but if Reina was in goals, it would be 1-1

Just on this, was it not his stupid foul that caused the problem in the first place*

My last comment on Lucas, he's clearly infallible.

With that turn that Aspas has in his locker he'll be drawing lots of yellows and reds this season.

he's far from infallible , its just that he was immense in that half of football.

Defense is a worry. Begovic is playing really well for Stoke. Surprised a top club didn't come in for him during summer, imo he was the #1 reason Stoke stayed up last year. Great form in second half and looks to be continuing it now.

May be harsh, but you gotta score them when you opt not to pass.
