Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Prediction, 4-3 stormer, Giroud Hatrick, Benteke Hatrick, and then Theo with the winner, in the 79th minute... with his right foot!

    DC ‏@DLDN22 12m
    Arsenal line up today; 4-2-1-3

Szczesny, Sagna, Kos, Mertesacker, Gibbs; Ramsey Chamberlain; Wilshere; Rosicky (LW), Giroud, Theo (RW).

I like Wilshere, Ramsey and Ox as the midfield 3, reckon they'll dominate. Can't see Rosicky stretching them on the left at all and with Walcott making his inside runs we could seriously lack width.

I have a very good feeling about this for us. Think we'll win comfortably, 3-0 or 4-1. Giroud to carry on his hot run from pre-season and Rambo to have a stormer.
Despite all the doom and gloom around the summers inactivity in the transfer market. Our first XI is capable of beating anyone.

this is the team likely to line up for Villa imo:

    .......................Guzan

    Lowton.......Vlaar...... Okore.... Luna

    .....Westwood... Delph..... KEA

    Weimann.......................... Gabby
    .....................Benteke

looking forward to a good match to start the season off here. Any idea what Arsenal's bench is like, they are pretty stretched for squad numbers arent they? although Cazorla/Podolski will be an obvious threat off the bench in the 2nd half

    One things almost certain.

Is Pod injured? Seems really strange to play Rosicky on the left.

Is that the official starting XI?

Surely that will be Rosicky AM, Wilshere CM, and Ox LW.

There was a tweet yesterday evening saying Gnabry, Hayden, Zelalem and Bellerin will all be on the bench today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,038 ✭✭✭circadian

Stuck on the bus. Here's hoping for decent 3G for a five live stream.

Arsenal Subs: Fabianski, Jenkinson, Frimpong, Cazorla, Gnabry, Podolski, Sanogo

    Now that's a weak bench.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,393 ✭✭✭Ed Winchester

    Frimpong, Super Frimpong,
Been at the gunners since the age of nine,
    Loved by, Arsene Wenger,
Cos he didn't cost a thing to sign.

Thought we'd seen the last of the mad bastard in a Gunners shirt.

I could imagine worse scenarios than having Pod or Cazorla to fall back on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,101 ✭✭✭NUTZZ

Aston Villa subs: Steer, Okore, Clark, Bacuna, Helenius, Bowery, Tonev.

And the rest? What about our defence and attack.

I would have put Caz and Pod down as attack tbh and we have no idea how good Sanogo is but not much back up for defence alright. As it is if a CB goes off we move Sagna in to the centre and Jenkinson comes on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,462 ✭✭✭✭WoollyRedHat

I think, depending on the keeper situation come January, that Arsenal should make a strong offer to Begovic, been amazing vs. Liverpool

If you dont have a LB/CB injury I think you will be fine. Podolski/Theo can fill in up front if Giroud isn't on form (yes you want a star CF but for now they arent terrible backup options) and Cazorla is obviously going to be a threat in midfield or on the wing depending on how he's needed.

i'm interested to see Tonev / Bacuna in particular if they come on for Villa.... uh oh Peno for Stoke vs Liverpool, might have to do some modding now! ha it was saved

Soccer Saturday have Theo on the left, Ox right and Rosicky in the centre. Not sure how reliable that is, might just be guessing at it themselves.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,397 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

Didn't think twitter hard man Frimpong was still at Arsenal...anyway hopefully a Villa win.
