    Hi there,
I got my results on Wednesday and expectedly I did not do well. I passed everything except geography ( getting that re checked though) and only did 6 subjects, and two of hich were foundation level and another one ordinary. I wasn't well in 5th year and did not have my mind on school. I have never liked school and have and never will be academic. I envy people who motivate themselves, as I know it is down to hard work.

I doubt I will get any cao offers on Monday. I am thinking maybe repeating in the institute, but I can't tell if I will be as motivated during the year to do well as I do now.

Is anyone in the same boat as me? I didn't reach the 200 point mark . I want to have more choices.

    Thanks :)

Have you got a career in mind that you would like to pursue? Maybe you could look at PLC courses or doing a FETAC course? These will help you greatly to progress further in a career path you would like to do.

I have always loved writing stories, ever since I was a kid. It's the only thing I am good at. The only thing is the jobs out there are very limited when it comes to that kind of thing. I have to think of the future and actually a decent job. Inhabe always liked to be a psychiatric nurse to, but the points are very high. Also about the plc, places in colleges for them would be very limited and I wouldn't like to spend a year doing a plc course and not get into the college for the course I wanted. :/

Perhaps you can look at journalism courses? I'd imagine they wouldn't have high points. For nursing, I believe you need to do General Nursing first and then you can specialise in whatever you'd like to work in like Neonatal, pediatrician, cardio or psychiatric. Depending where you live, your local colleges will help you progress further and I believe points aren't required to get into a course if you have done a PLC for one year. You should research the general nursing courses you'd want in around Ireland and see what do they require for student looking to get into that course but didn't get the points.

You can do phychiatric nursing from the start and it is around 30-40 points less than general nursing, the other option would be to do pre nursing as a plc for the year and hopefully move into general nursing from that but not everyone in the plc gets to , only the top students.
