Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

At least until McShane comes on

Chelsea to win by 5 or more looks appealing

What a shocking free kick. Hull spurn their best opportunity.

First 25 minutes were as slick and technically excellent as you get. We dropped off in the last 20 minutes but still could have scored a couple more. Hazard, Oscar, De Bruyne and Torres looking like a very potent front four, backed up well by Ramires and Lampard. Hugely enjoyable first half.

Also it was brilliant seeing goal line technology in action, amazing to think it took this long to get such a simple yet brilliantly effective piece of technology into the game.

Torres hasn't been great at all, apart from the assist he's brought nothing to the game.

Hopefully Lukaku gets a good 25min in the 2nd half

    Game has gone very flat...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,493 ✭✭✭DazMarz

Yeah. Chelsea have took the foot off the pedal in a major way. Hull are just looking to make sure it doesn't turn into a pure rout. Spark is gone in a big way.

    André Schürrle coming on...

    In place of De Bruyne

Hull scored the fewest goals in the top half of the Championship last season 1-0 was their favourite score. Quite impossible to see how they are going to stay up.

They'll have to massively up the tempo again.

    They signed Danny Graham

3 goals last season, none for Sunderland and now on loan. I'm sure he'll save them. :p

    Finally, Lukaku is on!!!

Aw my god... so close from André... So so close.

Jaysis, I must have been watching an entirely different game of football in the first half cause I thought he was excellent

Chelsea could have had 5 goals but stepped off the gas (rightly or wrongly).

Superb tactics from Jose. Bore the opposition to death.

Rightly. Game mid week against Villa, then another game on Monday against Man Utd, why waste energy?

Chelsea could have had 5 goals but stepped off the gas (rightly or wrongly).

Have another game Wednesday and again Monday so conserving some energy for those two was probably a priority...Game Wednesday will be very interesting against a Villa side who are a bit of an unknown tbh, looked great at times last season, also terrible at times, its a big year for them and Lambert to which they've started very well with that win against Arsenal

I wouldn't blame him. The players had lots of possession in the other half but didn't look too interested in scoring. It's the players that set the tempo.

I hope it bites them at the end of the season for wasting 45mins of our time.

Game of two halves. Mou right to pick a conservative line up and introduce some newbies once the game was won.

It's too early to make definitive judgements but here's sticking the neck out.

Mou will need a good physical team to win the premiership. I don't think he quite yet has the squad he needs. He needs more defensive options. He needs a Makelele-type in front of defence. He needs a proven goalscorer up front. Lukaku will need time. He needs Rooney, or Lewandowski.

We have quite a few flair players who will need to adapt significantly. I'm thinking primarily of Luiz and Oscar. I still wonder about Ramires' place in the team.

It will be fascinating to see how Mourinho deploy's Mata's enormous talent. He'll need to work alongside a midfield enforcer/ball-winner. Hazard is incredible.

The new boys introduced themselves well. Schurrle did well. De Bruyne has confidence.

Torres? I fear another season like last year. Not much in the league, possibly productive in Europe. But no chance of being the main man. I'm afraid he's just workmanlike now.

Will we win the premiership this year? If all our major rivals have trouble adapting to their new circumstances, I'm optimistic. But if Utd or City pull away, we could have difficulties this year. The upcoming Utd game will be a real test of nerve, and prospects.
