Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Smashing goal in fairness

So Madrid have successfully cloned Ronaldo?

Now that's dirty. Still not a red

When you see Real Madrid play like this, with such obvious acts of thuggery it makes a mockery of the club that they represent. They've come across tonight more as cartoon Rocky villains rather than a group of players playing for a historically great club like Real Madrid.

What acts? I've seen Athelti raking their studs twice now on Real players.

Both teams are a disgrace to soccer for all the moaning at the ref but that's the Spanish way.

lol if you can't see what I'm talking about then I can only make the friendly suggestion of booking an appointment in Specsavers in the near future.

Its embarrassing watching the so called men of Real Madrid....

Perhaps you could balance it out by saying the same thing about Athleti. They've been as equally as bad as Real Madrid.

This is still more peaceful than the final last year!:D

So that tackle on Jesse was fine?

Atletico have engaged in it and haven't exactly come across as saints but Real Madrid have come across much worse, they've gone out there tonight with the intention to wind up Costa and cheat.

Oh no they are winding up a player, how disgraceful.

    What happened there?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,948 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

    Another deflection.

Might be enough to take them into the final, running good though it must be said.

When that winding up is being done with rakes down the players leg and and knees in the back of the leg then yes, it is.

You certainly wouldn't see a Barca player try to wind up an opponent right?

A knee in the back of the leg is not disgraceful. Raking studs is dirty however Athelti players have done this more and Jesse is lucky to still be on the pitch and not in hospital with a broken ankle.

When you see it like Madrid have done tonight, through thuggish and cowardly manners, then come back to me, just there again Ramos happy to leave a knee in on Costa's head, one of the more minor incidents tonight.

Atleti need at least one goal. :(

Costa in the first half was going around seeing how many players he could get booked!

Did you see Costa in the first half?

The Barcelona midfield lynchpin has grabbed the vital opener, Sergio Busquets with a lovely, controlled sidefoot from a corner gives Barcelona the lead.

Inigo Martinez has been sent off, a perfect opportunity now for Barcelona to kill the tie.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Barcelona racking up some amazing possession stats here, even before Martinez was sent off the percentages were crazy. Xavi Hernandez will certainly have a bruised foot in the morning with the amount he has passed the ball.

That's one of the most bizarre own goals I've seen.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Goal! lol-tastic, Cesc's pass to Sanchez is sublime, as is the movement of Sanchez, who hits the post, Elustondo lets the ball run across his body, panics and whacks it off Zubikarai for a bizarre own goal. 2-0

Messi & Ronaldo both a bit off form
Barca were too slow in possesion tonight

Hope those criticising Arbeloa, rightly so, who should have been sent off also say Mascherano should have been sent off. Awful decision.

Didn't see, what'd he do this time?

Pulled back Vela when clear through on goal, referee gave nothing. Barca scored about 2 minutes after.

Barca look worse when Messi is in the team. He doesn't move enough and he was responsible for Busquets picking up a yellow. Tough dilemma for Tata Messi is Messi but he's half arsed and leaves Barca looking toothless at times. Mascherano should have been sent off -he's been terrible of late too- and Real should have at least been one goal up and possibly had a penalty.

Really disappointed that it's looking like another fking Clasico final. :(

He needs to start closing down opponents more..and use his ****ing teammates more. I know he is literally Messi, but football is a team game, he needs to become more involved.

The ref who sent Ronaldo off last week has been banned for a month.
The referee who sent off Cristiano Ronaldo last Sunday for Real Madrid against Athletic Bilbao has been banned for a month, according to a Spanish radio station.

Cadena Cope report that Miguel Angel Ayza Gamez has been punished following his performance in the match which ended 1-1 between the sides at San Mames.

The decision from the Spanish League's Refereeing Technical Committee (CTA) to drop Gamez has also seen the referee barred from taking charge of Madrid matches for the rest of the campaign.

Ronaldo was dismissed for raising a hand to Bilbao captain Carlos Gurpegi, while he also confronted Ander Iturraspe.

Ronaldo's appeal against the three-match ban imposed has been rejected, but Madrid are set to take the case still further by petitioning a Spanish government body to get the punishment overturned.

Jesus, he was right to send Ronaldo off. It was a clear red, Bilbao player who stuck his head in should've gone too, though.

Bale back in among the goals with 6 minutes gone! Great pressure on the defender and a cheeky little chip!

Atleti vs Almeria a very dull game.

Can't afford to drop points in these types of games, hopefully they have enough to get over the line but it's been a bit insipid so far. HT

Wouldn't be surprised if there was a fracture there for Tiago

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,948 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

Almeria must not be able to believe their luck. A shot hit off the left post and went across the line and then came off the right and out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,948 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

Almeria have just scored a great goal! Super strike

    Hints of a cross-cum-shot really

    Lol at the Athletico keeper!

    Barca gonna lose here.

Sanchez has done better this season but for me isn't good enough to start for Barcelona. Woeful miskick leads to a great chance for Rakitic.

Typically Sanchez then goes and scores.

    Clearly offside, what an injustice.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Big save Victor Valdes! The Barca stopper gets out quick and saves with his feet.
