Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Courtois with another great save.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,534 Mod ✭✭✭✭Amirani

Getafe have been pretty good so far, they've knocked it around well, probably unlucky to be behind.

Win this, win at the Mestalla, and I can't see Atleti not winning this league.

Got money on Atletico tonight, how are they looking against getafe?

1-0 and just been given a penalty. Red card to the Getafe player too.

    Stone waller.

Can't really argue with that sending off. Clear goalscoring opportunity for Miranda.

    Could be a costly miss

    Saved. Shocking penalty from Costa.

    Keeper did well. Double save.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,534 Mod ✭✭✭✭Amirani

Yeah, it was a poor peno from Costa.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,557 ✭✭✭✭CSF

Lads, everything Costa does is good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,557 ✭✭✭✭CSF

Getafe are an absolute disgrace here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,846 ✭✭✭Moneymaker

That should do it. Not pretty but 3 points. Very brave from Costa.

This looks very bad for Costa.

That's the win. Diego Costa injured though...

Great goal. Poor Costa. Hope it's not a bad one, hope Getafe go down.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,534 Mod ✭✭✭✭Amirani

Really doesn't look here. Hopefully it's just an impact injury and bruising?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,846 ✭✭✭Moneymaker

He's not been wrapped up or anything so maybe it's just some bad bruising. He's gonna be sore for a few days and probably miss a few games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,775 ✭✭✭✭kfallon

Doesn't look good for Costa, hope it's not gonna keep him out for rest of the season and the World Cup but I fear the worst :(

Can probably do without him against Elche but it's crucial he makes it back for Chelsea.

Fabregas is never going to work, he would command easily 40 million+ in this market.

    Completely disagree.
Barca are on the way down at the moment. No doubt about that. 3rd best team in spain this season and not near the standard in europe. No team can be constantly successful.
But I think Fabregas has been an excellent player for them. It was reported alot when he joined, where will he fit in, as iniesta, xavi n Busquets had the 3midfield jerseys. But he has proved so often for barca, if he plays as a wide forward or as a midfielder, he preforms!!!!

Chelsea's jamminess knows no bounds now Atletico are certainly down Costa.

Hopefully it's just a cut for Costa.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Turtwig

Seriously hope Costa's not out for long. :(

Costa injury just a cut according to Atletico's twitter.
    Great news

Seems Barcelona had a record 86% possession on saturday night .Crazy

Lads ,rumours of Messi's demise are greatly exaggerated,he is going nowhere ,people are paying too much attention to that Espanyol troll Ballague,he changes his tune every few months.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,740 ✭✭✭kingtiger

    Espanyol troll Ballague

 huh he is Barca through and through, I would even say he wears his Barca PJs to bed

How much of Messi have you watched in the last 18 months?

There is a clear decline to be seen.

He's actually not. He's a Catalan but his heart is with Espanyol not Barcelona.

so he says, although I recall him referring to "we" when talking about Barca on numerous occasions

No,he is a lifelong Espanyol fan ,common knowledge
    Quote on Guardiola book
I explained to him that I didn't want to do an authorised biography—he didn't want to do an autobiography. So, I thought, it's going to be my book on you. My vision of you. I'm not very close to you, I'm an Espanyol fan, so I'm not in love with you.

I've seen plenty of him ,he is still a great player ,the team is is playing in just isnt as good and the tactics arent getting the best out of him.

He scored 42 goals in 45 games in 2013 out of 146 shots .
The much lauded Ballon D'or winner scored 66 goals out of 296 shots in 66 games.
Both players had the same number of assists.
    Very similar stats yet .

Do you expect him to score 80 something goals every season ,I guess 42 goals is a decline allright for him but still unattainable for every other player in the world bar one.

Bayern seemed in Pre-season mode for that game though.

Atletico have kicked off at home to Elche. Looking to go 6 points clear at the top of La Liga and put more pressure on Real and Barca to keep up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,846 ✭✭✭Moneymaker

Atleti not got going at all yet. Don't **** it up ffs. More brilliance from Courtois keeping it at 0-0.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,224 ✭✭✭✭SantryRed

Courtois is world class. Chelsea would be stupid to let him go.

Terrible penalty by David Villa. Pressure beginning to build now.

    Some header that was.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

Stupid red card, what was he thinking ?

Penalty for Atletico, 2-0 by Costa.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Who would have thought that playing Pedro, a player who has contributed so much to Barcelona's success, would help to improve the performance of the team and Messi?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,880 ✭✭✭✭klose

Fairly pitiful attendence considering athletic are one of the few teams that will give barca a game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Turtwig

Pedro and Alexis just show again and again that Neymar wasn't necessary, shoring up the defence was. Even Messi is playing sharper. (Which in someways is pretty pitiful.)

Deserved a goal for that effort.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

What an effort, shame it didn't go in! That would have been one of the goals of the season.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

It's a glorious pass from Messi to find Pedro who squares for Sanchez who squanders a sitter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,846 ✭✭✭Moneymaker

    Clear penalty there.

Yeah... he's looking more and more like a square peg in a round hole.

I guess the hope is with another manager and with a season in La Liga under his belt, he'll improve next year.
