Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Brilliant ?
It was a calamitous error by the keeper.

Valencia by far the better side in the first half.

To think of heading it back from where he ran from instead of heading it in the direction he is going in I thought it was and hitting the post and going in all adds to the excitement :)

What a huge win for Atletico. Beat Levante away and Malaga at home and they are champions. Juanfran got a straight red near the end though and will miss the last 3 games.

Massive win. Hope they win midweek too. :)

Great win for Atleti. Two more wins and it could be the title before visiting the Camp Nou.

I really, really hope they knock Mourinho's Anti-Football crowd out of the ECL now.

Athletic winning 2-0 in a huge game for 4th spot. Great season for them.

As much as I like Barca I really will be delighted to see Atleti win the league, nearly there now.

pfft, football is football. arrogant nonsense to dictate that one style is anti football and another is what football is meant to be. I find possession for possessions sake quite dull but wouldn't castigate teams for it.

Big save on the line from Barcelona's young number 15, Marc Bartra is developing into the kind of centre back that could be the cornerstone of the side for the next decade.

Meanwhile on the other side of the defence, Mascherano and Adriano are all over the place, simple communication sorely missing.

    Barca 1 down

That's a beauty teamgoal by Villareal:)

Great goal by Villarreal and what a time to score it.

Marcelino has set them up well here against Barcelona. Be interesting to see what Barca can come up with in the 2nd half.
football is football. arrogant nonsense to dictate that one style is anti football and another is what football is meant to be.

True. But when West Ham played that way against Chelsea and got a 0-0 draw you had Mourinho out complaining it was 19th Century football and Anti-Football.

What Real Madrid did against Bayern wasn't anti-football it was some excellent defending and wonderful counter attacking. What Chelsea did against Atletico was negative football. The players never once look to put any exertion into building an attack.

That said, there's no required way for a team to play but: winning is winning. But I'd Real Madrid anyday over Barca's sterile possession or Chelsea's overly negative bus parking.
    Balance is best. :)

    That was some header!

Villarreal cutting Barca apart on the counter.

    Unreal header

Scoreline is a pity, but our season ended about 2 weeks ago.

Whose up for some summer shopping?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

Barcelona likely emotionally drained after the weeks tragic events, understandable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Turtwig

    Class header!

As Sid Lowe pointed out in the Bilbao game Madridistas still want Barca playing for something against Atletico. Real Madrid fans cheering Barca who'd have thunk it? :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Much better, the ball whizzes around the Villarreal box, Alves smashes the back of the ball, it drives low and hard across goal, Gabriel's attempted clearance finds its way into the net. Game back on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Turtwig

That's one way of describing an extremely fortuitous own goal.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

A banana thrown at Alves who proceeds to eat half of it, disgusting from the Villarreal fans. Difficult not to like Alves.

    Wow two own goals

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Speaking of Alves, it's his whipped cross, it's Musacchio's head, Barcelona are back level, this side don't know when to quit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Turtwig

Heartbreaking for Villareal. Two OGs. :(

Fight, spirit, courage, brilliance, everything that typifies the club. It means so much to them tonight of all nights. 3-2 it can only be Barcelona.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Turtwig

    Ahh feck

Only a free kick. Harsh call anyway busquets got the ball but would have made for an epic finish.

Let's be honest, Barcelona did not deserve the win tonight. They got really really lucky.

@snap_kaka_pop: Daniel Alves: "My dad always told me: Son, eat bananas to avoid cramp. How did they know?"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,203 ✭✭✭partyguinness

Watched the entire Barca game. They played with real guts and determination. Yes, getting 2 own goals was lucky but you make your own luck and all that..

I know its been done to death but even with injuries, they really need to strengthen their squad.

    1. A strong centre forward in the Eto or Zlatan mode;
    2. At least 2 decent centre halfs;
    3. Goalie- Pinto is mental;
    4. Talks that Alves is leaving.
    5. Busquets has not been as dominant notwithstanding the 3rd goal last night.

Neymer has yet to convince me. Maybe a good WC and a fresh start next season will help.

I have never seen Barac put so many crosses into the box...and to who exactly?? You wldnt mind if they were decent.

While I still hope Barca win the League, I wldnt begrudge Atletico in the least and it would be good to see it.

Yes they did get lucky but to say they didnt deserve to win might be a little harsh. Personally at the end, I wasnt thinking "Jammy lucky bastards".

If they had lost, I would be thinking how the hell did that happen.

Can anyone clear up for me the suspension of Barcelona's transfer embargo? Will the appeal be concluded before this summer's window or will they definitely be able to sign and sell players as normal for the entire window?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Turtwig

They left the appeal late enough so that a conclusion can not be reached before the close of the Transfer Window. So they've got one transfer window to sort their sh*t out. They can buy and sell like any normal club.

Didn't see it but that's a shocking result.

Guess it was a tough day with the tribute for Tito and all that.

Didn't see it either. Stupid U.K. law. They conceded in the 92 minute.
