Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Wow! Did not see this coming!

Madrid fans whistling Arbeloa when he's on the ball. Really not constructive. Did the same with Benzema a few weeks back. They have a considerable section of awful fans

Their fans seem to have a similar level of entitlement and arrogance as their players. They deserve each other.

Wonderful assist from Bale there. Who'll get the match ball first?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,846 ✭✭✭Moneymaker

Rakatic is a superb player. Amazed he wasn't snapped up during the summer.

bale right at home when it comes to divers

Bale is right at home there anyway. That was a shocking dive. He'd probably have got to the ball if he stayed on his feet.

Doesn't get the plaudits he deserves in Spain. Would be delighted if Liverpool signed him.

Hilarious dive by Bale. Like to say he's picking up a few tricks from his team mates but he was doing that well before he left for Spain

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,846 ✭✭✭Moneymaker

Ronaldo has 14 goals in 6 games against Sevilla.

    This match is insane :D

Well the ref is consistent if nothing else.

    Bad peno!

Penno's left right and center, 9 goals and counting and now a red card for Sevilla, this is some crazy match

well overs backers will be happy enough with this one I'd say...

This game is mental, too many goals, Bale's first was tasty though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,136 ✭✭✭✭Rayne Wooney

Can't see them doing much this season, they'll come up against teams who'll snuff their attack and then they're screwed because they'll almost always concede.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,369 ✭✭✭LostBoy101

Just got home to watch the last 20 mins of the Real vs Sevilla game and the ref didn't look like he knew what was going on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,295 ✭✭✭✭MisterAnarchy

Cracking match ,thoroughly enjoyable end to end stuff that is refreshing to watch.
I had to laugh at Emery shouting at his players to go forward in the 88th minute when they were 7-3 down and a man down ,kamikaze stuff.

huh  did you not see that Verane and Alonso are back from injury? once they get up to speed their defense will be strengthened

Real will get better and better as the season wears on, far to early to make such assumptions that they wont win anything

    Ridiculous assist from Neymar there

Get to watch more Spanish football than English these days and I have to say it puts the prettier league to shame

So simple but outrageous at the same time! He's really exciting to watch. He has added a different dimension to Barca. The directness and explosion in his game is far more exciting to watch than the incessant passing.

Alexis Sanchez can't stop scoring! Controlled, measured and occasionally excellent display from Barcelona, illuminated by the blinding Brazilian genius of Neymar, the difference again today, and could prove to be the difference maker for Barcelona over the course of the season. The score line says 1-0 but this was comprehensively Barcelona's game from start to finish with Espanyol having, at times, 6 players strung across their back line. Also a special mention for Xavi Hermandez, his passing, ability to find space and get on the ball to make it all tick was sublime tonight, he's had a strong season thus far.

Bale with an assist for Ronaldo. Very intelligent flick over the defender to keep the ball in play from Bale!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,640 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

Some day R.Madrid will learn to buy proper defenders, some day

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,640 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

such a joke of a club for defending

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,948 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

Lol! Another penalty just a minute after the other one!

Real can't even play the offside trap well.

It's insane to think that a brainless footballer like Sergio Ramos can continue to get a game at Real Madrid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,042 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

Not a chance that Madrid team will win anything this year.

Imagine that defence up against Munich or Dortmund again, would leak another pile of goals.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,207 ✭✭✭miralize

Its funny how Barcelona are the ones that are so often the ones named in having a poor defensive record. Best in the league so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,846 ✭✭✭Moneymaker

They've been far more solid this year. They don't have 70-80% of the ball every game anymore but there is more variety to their attack, a better spread of goals around the entire attack and they defend better as a unit now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Problem with Real is that it's not even straight terrible defending at times, it's absolutely terrible decision making. Pepe, Marcelo, Ramos would drive you insane sometimes with some of the things they do. 2 penalties tonight were exactly that. Both Pepe and Ramos can be really good defenders, despite what some people think, but unfortunately it's nowhere often enough because they're concentration and decision making can be absolutely atrocious.

Varane and Ramos should be first choice as centre backs. The defence looks so much stronger with Varane in there. I think Anelotti will find his ideal 11 sooner rather than later and I think Real will be a lot better in the coming months, despite people writing them off. Bale settling in with every game too, looking sharper and already contributed a lot in the past week.

Real seem to be reverting to their classic "whatever you score, we'll score more" mentality of late. Makes for some good games though.

Think Atleti are a little short betting wise this evening against Bilbao, the Basques are on a good run of late.

Yeah I can see the perfect home record coming to an end, although it is Dia de los Peñas so the Calderon should be buzzing more than usual.

Incidentally does anyone know any bar in Dublin that might be showing it? I've checked the Woolshed and the Living Room websites but both appear to be a no.
