There seems to be little rhyme or reason as to why some people are getting their Nexus 5's relatively smoothly and others aren't getting their's at all or getting orders cancelled.

    Very strange altogether.

I just received this in an email. can anyone that has had some success give me some advice please. I'm gutted after seeing this email.

    BILL TO
    My Name
    PM xxxxxx, Parcel Motel
    1A McKinney Road
    Newtownabbey
    ANTRIM
    BT36 4PE
    GB

    Ship to
    My Name
    PM xxxxxx, Parcel Motel
    1A McKinney Road
    Newtownabbey
    ANTRIM
    BT36 4PE
    GB
    +44 1890 241717
the settings that I used were completely my own address for billing in Google Wallet, except the postcode and country. so everything, my full Irish address, and the Irish county I'm in, but PM's BT36 4PE postcode and GB country.

then when putting in the postal address, that's when I used PM's full address, and only then.

Please guys, don't tell me that I'm the only one that have no news from PM yet. My Nexus was delivered yesterday morning to PM depot in Antrim and I don't know where is now. What can I do?

Ah N5 no 2 has arrived in Belfast as of this 2 am this morning.

Question about PM, I have a credit card in my Parcel motell account, do I need to put credit onto my account from it or will PM just bill the card when the phone comes in? Balance shows 0.

Mine also arrived. Got an email from PM saying it's ready for collection. No text yet but I think that because I have my contact hours between 7 and 11.

Im in Cork and just got email/text that my N5 is waiting at my PM :) Will have to wait till after work though to collect it

This is a joke, google now asking me for proof off ID and billing address to proceed..think Ill have to start again with new account and use my other debit card :(

Or will drivers licence and utility bill do....even tho they not uk, billing address is obviously my irish one minus the uk postcode

eta: handtec have a few N5's in stock, slightly inflated price, not too bad, might just get a 16gb off them instead of a 32 from google, less hassle, I just want a phone at this stage, been without for 5 weeks

eta2: ordered hassle free form handtec, could only afford the 16gb instead of the 32 due to their inflation, but happy out, it'll do :)
never used the 32gb with my previous htc ox anyway !!

Mine is in since 637 just in the road but I've done something to my back so can't go down. Being extra nice to herself in the hope that she might grab it for me before work.

Although based on her overwhelming enthusiasm at me ordering another gadget I don't think that will happen.

Mine arrived at the 11:56 mark in belfast like others here. Nothing appeared on PM until 20:00 last night saying in transit and then this morning at 5:45 I picked up two beautiful Nexus 5's... Have to hand it to Google and Parcel Motel they really have provided excellent service with this (Well for me anyway)

I agree! Google are an absolute joke! Just been on to them to try and cancel the order fully as I am sick of seeing that 'pending' status and that the whole thing is STILL in limbo! The guys on the phone turns around and says they now can't cancel the fooking thing.....like WTF!? Apparently they only have a very short window to do it and it apparently the only real option is to refuse the phone when delivered if and when it ever arrives!? Total madness I feel as with Amazon you can cancel at pretty much any stage of the process!

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,865 ✭✭✭✭MuppetCheck

It's installing it's update now. Nice phone, feels very much like a htc one X in the hand.

What's the problem, just put it on adverts or donedeal when it arrives if you don't want it.

It's installing it's update now. Nice phone, feels very much like a htc one X in the hand.

Think it fells nicer than the HTC One. The one always felt unbalanced and slippy, I was always afraid I'd drop it.

I rooted it straight away as it'll wipe all data when done first time. Now rebooting from the update.

The little white earpiece on the top looks unusual, not bad, but it'll fool me at some stage into thinking I've got a message like a notification light :)
I like the white back and black front. It's different to the all white iphone style phones. It's not much bigger than the N4 in the hand just slightly longer but the screen looks quite a bit bigger with the transparent notification bar and buttons.
Will be interesting to see the N4 with Kitkat, it'll definitely make the screen seem bigger.

Edit, oh the size of the text when its doing the update shows how good the resolution of this screen really is. Its tiny but still perfectly formed and readable :)

The problem is I want to buy one now off either Adverts or DoneDeal but I don't then want another a few weeks down the line if and when they decide they want to send one out! I have the right as a consumer to cancel an order whenever I want and to buy a product elsewhere and Google seem to think they can take that right away!!

OK yeah but they told you they can't effect the cancellation so you should refuse delivery in lieu of cancellation on their side. You'll still get your money back.

That is crazy though and an absolute waste of everyone's time and energy!! It's a massively inefficient process if you ask me!

Anybody find an alternative website that sells the 32gb black? For a reasonable price

  • Registered Users Posts: 5 dece27

Anyone already had bad experiences with MP? Did they find the package after all?

    Hold on a sec.
Now, I'm going to be devils advocate here, Im not standing up for the company either.
But, fact is, Google do not sell devices in Ireland. End of. That is a totally other argument for another thread, but that's fact.
Trying to circumvent this process is risky and in no way guaranteed. Could it be handled better? Of course it could, but realise what exactly is going on first.

I was looking on the carphone warehouse there and it seems like the price for a 16 gb has gone up to 429 pounds. Surely a misprint and they mean the 32gb version. Still quite steep though.

As a side question, if I was to wait until this is on amazon and get it delivered can I get it shipped to my parcel motel address up North and then on to my local collection point for much cheaper than the delivery cost to my house? Sorry if its a basic question, not overly familiar with parcel motel. Still have my two free stays.

I do realise but regardless of where I order from the same process from Google applies! If I ordered from the UK I would be in the same boat if I decided I wanted to cancel my order! If I order from Amazon anywhere in the world or through any of their sites if I decide I do not want a product up until it is shipped I am 99.9% sure I can cancel that order......but why can't I do that with Google!?

    Cheers,
    M

By European Directive, they have to allow you cancel without penalty within 7 days. If that means by refusing delivery then it's Google who are wasting their own money. If it's bothering you that much why not ring up again to cancel and see if they give you the same response?

  • Registered Users Posts: 45,788 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

I'd have thought EU directvies would mean Google weren't allowed to basically ban us from buying the Nexus from them. Not sell directly, ok, but to cancel orders they think are coming from Ireland?

I have rang up mate and tried to get them to do it there and then. Anyhow, if they can't do it which they are telling me they can't I have no other option just to refuse delivery when they arrive. So long as I get each and every penny back all will work out OK!

    Thanks,
    M

Is that what's happening? I've seen the text quoted where they need to verify billing address or something.

Could they argue that they were prioritising certain markets first and had to protect that market?
