Steph Britton is going to be left devastated when she’s the victim of revenge porn.
In a shocking new storyline her ex Jamie, played by former Hollyoaks star James Atherton, will try to blackmail her into helping convince her brother Luke to return to car racing.
He threatens to publish intimate pictures if she doesn’t help him, and when Luke refuses to race for Jamie, the villain carries out his threat and x-rated pictures of Steph are posted online.
A show insider said: "The rise of revenge porn, particularly on the internet, is a very modern phenomenon and Corrie always tries to reflect what is going on in the wider society.
"We will show how it can wreck lives. Poor old Steph is an innocent party and will be drawn into a situation not of her own making, which will have a devastating impact on her.
"The emotional turmoil Steph goes through will shock viewers."

COuld make for an interesting story, but there's a major with that. Steph was introduced to the show when she was planning her 18th in the Bistro with Katie Armstrong, and recently she named her age to Bethany which confirms that. She was single on the show until she started dating Andy, so she must have been under 18 if she was dating Jamie before her debut on the show...

To be honest I wouldnt see a problem with it. So she was under 18 when she was dating and possibly sleeping with whats his name. Age of consent is 16 after all.

Yes, absolutely but the issue is nude videos/photographs under the age of 18 would be considered child pornography.

Not at all, the issue is Steph was under 18 when she joined the show, she was planning her 18th party with Tina, someone mentioned already, I can't remember it myself, so any dealings she has had with the chap who is going to "revenge porn" her would technically be distributing child porn, but unless the writers / producer goes down that avenue, it'll be a classic case of Stewart Blackburn chopping and changing story lines and characters to suit his current whim.

Yeah, I get your point. I imagine the producers don't want to blur the lines of the issue; it sounds like one of those those storylines where they put up a helpline at the end for anyone that might have been affected.

I completely understand what you are saying regards the age thing, but I don't understand what your point is. Why would her being under eighteen when they were together affect the storyline?

Yes, this! Thank you m'dear, I wasn't sure where to go from my ranteroo! My point is I highly doubt this will in fact be the storyline, and it'll just be Steph doing her scared face, Gandy looking into the middle distance and Luke storming off like a child for 2 months.

Again, I know all this. The reality is, that revenge porn is actually very common now and particularly so of under age people(predominantly girls). It is also very very hard to track and get evidence and so convictions are very very rare.

I think its a very plausible storyline.

Also didn't she tell Gandy recently when he was feeling jealous that she was with him years ago or ages ago or something along those lines?

Maybe we're just supposed to forget her age or think she's older as Gandy is 30 and there was no issue made over the 10 year age gap. (I know she was legal at the time obviously but usually there is a big deal made about age gap -see Sally and Tim as example)
