Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Decent walking app

I am currently walking around 2 miles a day, I like to use an app to see how long I have been walking, how long it took me to do a km yesterday compared with today etc. I find it keeps me motivated as I want to get better everyday.

I am currently using mapmywalk, loads of great stats, but I think it's really overestimating my calorie usage for instance I walked 5km in 50 minutes yesterday and it says I burnt 487 calories, now I do have a decent bit of weight to loose but that can't be right can it? If it was that easy to burn them there would be no obesity issues.

Can anyone recommend any other decent apps for mapping a walk, preferably free and it is a must that it can run in the back round.

They vary a lot but I would tend to use myfitnesspal to work out the calories burned because it's one of the more accurate ones I've come across (ooh matron).

It would put your walk at about 220 calories burned.

    Endomondo

If you are interested in determining how many calories you are burning you should invest in a heart rate monitor.

Right thanks, I think I'll just continue to use map my walk for time, length etc. and then just use my fitness pal for the calories. Thanks.

MapMyWalk is the same thing but for walkers.

I use MaymyHike but I find these apps are not entirely accurate. If you look at the route you have done online afterwards the red line indicating your route does be all over the place. It actually looks as if you were hammered drunk while walking. :P
