    All

Hoping someone here can assist me.

Currently in work we have a PC setup to operate powerpoint to a TV screen in an area - nothing to flash or fancy, just a simple PPT in a loop.

Is it possible to send the a signal through the network, where I could pick up the signal on the other end and tie in other TV screens using something like a CAT5/VGA converter? In essence use the one PC to drive an video output over a network via IP or VLAN or ............

Got prices for some solutions which were very expensive & complicated.

I have attached a quick mock up of what I am thinking, but do not know.

Mods, if this is the wrong home for the query please move

    Thanks in advance :(

    Hi Nukem

You can send a VGA signal over a CAT5 cable directly using a CAT5 to VGA adapter.
    something like this will work
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/150m-vga-extenders-45472
bearing in mine that this does not connect to the network switch, it just uses the CAT5 cable to send the video.
so for example the source needs a spare outlet which you connect one end of the VGA adapter to, then patch this to the other end to the appropriate CAT5 outlet for the second TV screen.

    hope this helps

    Nick

    Thanks Nick

Suppose the next issue I have is that some of the TVs are in adjoining buildings where we cannot run cables, so using the over the network solution would have been ideal to utilize existing infrastructure.

What you need is a AV or VGA network media player.

I know a lot of big chains would be geared towards networked tvs, mainly NEC or samsung.

    This might be of help.

There are KVMs such as those made by Adder (Adderlink Infinity) which will operate over IP.
I think that they are all DVI / HDMI though.

Adder would be one of the higher end brands for this type of device, depends on how reliable you need it to be.
