Hey all, recently acquired an old dimension and am looking to learn the in's and outs of hardware with it. Looking for someone to tell me what's what, in terms of max ram, (A02 bios btw winXP SP3) currently 2x512MB ram, 2GHz P4. Need to know compatible PCi cards etc. for playing around with.
    Also...
if I have a standalone wifi router, if I plug it into the Dimension, would it act as a wireless network adapter??? (Forgive the ignorance)

    Thanks in advance,

    Simon.

2x 512 MB (DDR PC2700 or DDR PC3200) is the maximum RAM.

The mainboard supports any any 130nm (Northwood) 400 Mhz FSB Pentium 4 or Celeron processor (non-HT).

if you want wifi you prob need to get a USB WiFi adapter you can get them cheaply enough.
    something like http://www.maxburns.ie/store/?ECProduct=1977 would do

what do you want to learn from playing with the system ?
