A footwear conundrum

Need some advice and to be at least pointed in the right direction. Last summer I bought a pair of New Balance Stability 940s from a well known Cork running shop. Basically after going walking and running in them a little I realised they were completely wrong. I got all measured up and everything; to be told that I had 'funny' feet. :pac: Can't remember exactly which way mine go, but they're far from neutral. As a result I need a wide fitting, the NBs were width 4E and size 8.

Anyone else have 'funny feet'? I've had many problems with ingrown toenails and easily get blisters so I need absolutely positively sure about what I wear.

I'm heading back to college soon like everyone else, and will be closer than ever to my college gym and want to do something with it.

When you say you got all measured up and everything, does that mean gait analysis?

    Couple of things.

Lots of people have 'odd' feet, not one left, one right type of odd but varying lengths, height, width, arch, flexibility etc which I presume is covered in 'funny feet'.

What are you doing in the shoes?

Were you fitted for shoes for walking or running? Some people ask for fitting for walking and then take up running and then discover that the recommended shoes are possibly not suitbale for them running due to changed in foot loading etc etc.

What is it about the shoes that suggests they are wrong for you?

Ingrown nails and blistering may be issues to discuss with a chiropodist or podiatrist but a specialist shop should be able to fit you properly with shoes suitable for your intended use.

Googling things can help jog the memory. Was told I had low arches and a 'mobile' foot. I got them with the intention of running and the gym. Found though that they pinched in the toes and caused my heels to hurt a lot. I use 'funny feet' with my tongue in my cheek. :D
