WD Media Player, Philips Home Cinema Syatem, Sony TV

Hi, I posted this in richer sounds but since its a bank holiday in N.I. I might not get a response for a while. Apologies for double post but kinda in a rush to do this. I have got all the above in the title. I am happy with the quality of the system but for 1 problem which I cant quite figure out. The surround sound dvd player is connected to the TV via composite cable (red, yellow, white) and works perfectly when playing DVDs and USB sticks. My WD media player works perfectly with the TV also, I use it to watch Netflix and Youtube. However, the media player and the surround sound system don't pick each other up, they are both connected to the TV but not to each other. So when I watch anything on the media player it just uses the TV speakers, which are not a patch on my home cinema speakers obviously, and I lose a bit of the experience. They don't even have the same connections. Is there any way around this or is there a bit of kit I can buy to enable this?

Model numbers would be useful. Aside from that the composite video connection is the worst possible quality you could have (aside from 405 line). You've gone to all that trouble to achieve decent sound quality yet you're watching the lowest quality video !? On a large TV the quality will be even worse. At a minimum you should be using SCART or Component if available. Of course HDMI or DVI-D would be optimal.

If the sound from the DVD system isn't going to be used on the TV (you have it going to the 5.1 system ?) then the RED & White audio connections are redundant.

Provide the model number of the Home Cinema system and we can probably help you more.

Does your DVD player have a Aux input? You would need to input your sound directly into the DVD player rather then the TV for that to work.
