I did a re-set by disconnecting the power battery and little plastic connector on PCB (as per instructions in book) and that seems to have solved it. The alarm is now arming and triggering when I do an entry.

Looks like the loop type was set to duel and defaulting the panel has set it back to single EOL.
When you get to the next stage you know where we are.
