    Is tomorrow his last day?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Sean gave numerous hints that he wasn’t going away permanently from the Mother Ship today.

It will be totally ridiculous to stamp out covid during the lockdown and then to import it again through the airport.

It’s completely farcical and a legal/law-enforcement mess. So once I can make my way to Dublin Airport successfully I can (foolishly) go on a little breakeen somewhere (I’m sure I could find somewhere it’s legal to enjoy a vacation) and return again, and say “up yours” when asked to fill out a form returning to Dublin airport. If I live on the outskirts of Dublin Airport I have broken absolutely no law and no judge can find me guilty of anything. Notwithstanding I’d be totally disrespectful of society.

He'll probably do the same as Gaybo, come back for little projects that interest him.
Would look forward to him doing one off stuff on politics or sport.

The Rte Gene Pool never do. Even a stake through the heart does not work. I am surprised Gaybo and Marianne are not still producing stuff ! ! !

Should be a nice quiet send off for Sean today

Sean explaining that he had a very handy number with Rte and that it did not take much out of him.

Just the usual from an Rte-er.

There's a Twink tribute/documentary on TV during the week. If that's all they can pull from the archives there must be very little there.

I wonder would Niamh Lyons be a dark horse to replace Sean.

I think its been a fine and fitting last show, proper balance between serious and sentimental. Callan had me in stitches and i wouldnt usually describe myself as a big fan.

In fairness, one of the best current affairs broadcasters of our generation is finishing up today, a few words of praise certainly won't be begrudged by this listener anyhow.

Bit of that in it alright, although to be fair to Sean he's aware of that.

Callan was a good laugh but what on earth possessed them to bring MLM in? Interesting the first time you heard her line of contrived patter, meh the second time and just irritating thereafter. Thankfully hasn't appeared much since.

Think Sean has done a decent job but always more of a political man which inevitably has coloured the show.

In the end though, this listener won't exactly miss him. Which is probably what he would wish.

Lots of politicians breathing a sigh of relief today

I think Newstalk will snap him up, throw him in against Ballsy (©BB) at the weekend.

To be fair to Sean, he's one of the better quality presenters at rte.

Whoever takes over will likely do just as good a job.

As long as it's not Miriam..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,065 ✭✭✭✭Odyssey 2005

Duffy and farcy will be even more insufferable today. I predict a 15 minute monologue at the start of each programme eulogising SoR

Not feeling this song as an ending. Personal for SOR though, so I guess it's fitting...

Happy trails, SOR. I'd like to see him back in some capacity on the air again. RTE have plenty of form for this.
