Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    "No future, no life".

I think Ruth should use that as her campaign slogan for her next election.

That's what we could all look forward to in "Ruth's World"

I like Cormac but his interrupting at this stage is just ridiculous. He needs to seriously back off and give people a chance.

He is worse on The Late Debate

Sean o Rourke is having some holiday, all of August off and 2 weeks off in July.

A Society of extremely rich, and low class dole scrounging scum who just get everything for free.

I enjoy the Paddy O'Gorman segments but they are far too short. He is very entertaining in the midst of other serious stuff. Should be on for longer or maybe more often.

Slightly OT but I notice Dobbo is gone missing and Sharon is doing the 6.01 and 9.00 news.

Yeah I noticed that too Joe. He's about to start a new job on Morning Ireland, so I suspect he's either taking whatever holidays are due to him, or doing some media training for radio, or learning the ropes of their procedures.

What a frustrating interview regarding the Liffey boardwalk. Cormac spent way too much time arguing with his two guests, as if they'd invented what they'd seen there. Does he never walk in the city centre? Anyone with a working pair of eyes will tell you that the city centre is full of undesirables. His "shock" at the texts which came in was quite wearing.

Cormac is, if the Mods will indulge me - a complete pain in the erse.

He needs to be waterboarded, then forced to write out, ten thousand times - "The Today with Sean O'Rourke Show is NOT meant to be a pulpit for me to inform the nation what I think about things."

Back in the 90s he had his own programme, Queueing for a Living, absolutely fantastic. What we get on SOR now is only a fraction of what we used to get. Paddy is just pure brilliance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,753 ✭✭✭✭Brendan Bendar

Little bit over the top there, if I may opine, only a little though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 353 ✭✭bossdrum

Maybe he could do a 'Queueing for living -revisited' like Joe Duffy does with liveline.
I wonder how many are still queueing after all those years?

Not exactly brilliant, but I do remember some classics - the OAPs living in a rough area of Dublin and trading their monthly ration of free viagra for the provision of 'security services' plus the odd free pint from local youths was a great piece!

I can just about take Paddy in small doses. He's marginally more tolerable than Henry McKean on Newstalk.

Years ago Paddy came to my home town and fell for the sob stories peddled by the local scumbag. If he was to come back, he'd have trouble finding him queuing for the dole because he's in jail (again) :pac:

Paddy doesn't really fall for the sob stories these days. He keeps a fairly impartial stance and lets the people tell their story and the audience to make up their own minds.
I think back in the 90's with QFAL (I really liked it) he was a bit more agenda driven than he is today.

I really like his slots on SO'R these days too.

Why in God's name would you want Ruth Coppinger as part of anything productive that you were trying to achieve. The woman is absolutely toxic and her negativity is toxic. If she won the lotto she would complain about the color of the ticket. Leave her whinging and moaning on the outside, you will get much more done.

Yeah, it's funny: I complain that the SOR show gets a bit samey, due to the reliance on these vox pops from Paddy, Brian O'Connell - then MLOD's monochrome pen pics of life down the country.
But back in the day, Paddy's show was unbeatable. He has a great talent for talking to people and drawing them out, and the people who took part were sorely underrepresented in the media. Someone else suggested going back and revisiting some of the people he met. Honestly, though, I'd say a lot of them are dead by now. The show was a real eye-opener - for this cosseted arts student, as I was at the time - on how tough life can be.

What is wrong with RTE's phone system? Bad line to Seoul this morning, phone back, still a problem.
This happens particularly on RTE all the time. Are they sacrificing infrastructure for salary?

Why do you call her a ****er, what issues do you have with her? Was it because she was slating Trump? If you were listening you'd have heard she was equally as critical of the Clintons and lefties.

While he's in RTE this morning, they should introduce Donal O'Shea to Ray D'Arcy. I'd say they would really hit it off.

Ah feck I missed it. Just hearing Sean reading out the texts. I'm gonna hazard a guess that Ruth Coppinger was in support of George Hook, and thinks that he was treated harshly?

Ruth is never in support of anything.

Her default position is opposition and/or complaining/moaning.

She made David Quinn sound almost reasonable

Stream it man. It was joyous!

She basically called Quinn a sexist at the end for pointing out newstalk is a commercial station and their all male line up is due to ratings.(he was quizzed on that by sean)

    Feminutter rage at its finest.

    :)

I agree...possibly the first time I was ever cheered on Quinn..,the few bits he managed to get in.. through the usual stream of monotone inane drivel that this shameless woman has made her stock in trade. Coppingers harangues, masquerading as reason and decency, are more of a threat to our childrens wellbeing than the ill conceived ranting of a cranky old man.Is this the standard of person that thousands of people choose to represent their views. She and her fellow fanatics should do us all a favour and follow through on their promise to boycott the station...who cares.

    Jesus wept.

Vintage Coppinger it has to be said.

My own highlight was when she triumphantly admitted to trawling his twitter for ammunition for her ad hominems.
