    Depends. Usual rules apply really. Standing, buttoned, with lowest button undone on jacket. Sitting, unbuttoned, with lowest button on waistcoat undone.

    I agree with il_gatto, also when the formalities of whatever function your attending is over you could leave unbuttoned I would say.
