I'll also expect to hear about any newcomers from you too.

Start a 12 week course on October the 1st. It's Monday evenings, but with a little one and another little one on the way I may not be able to commit to every week this season, possible every 2nd game and it could go potentially to every 3rd.

Hoping that I might be able to take a bigger part in this season than I originally thought. I can walk again and am starting to work on running. They originally said it'd be near the end of the year but after a lot of work with the physio they think I could play again sometime in mid Oct. I'll see how it goes.

Says the man who headed the ball for the first time in his life and was out for six months.

I tore pretty much every ligament in my ankle.

Hello. Is this a soccer team? What's the standard like? Full 11 a side or is it 5 a side?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,346 ✭✭✭✭homerjay2005

lads, its 4 weeks to the new season, so am looking to get the 4 team friendlies up and running next week, probably Monday in Wesley but it depends on astro.ie agreeing. emailing them now.

    is that ok with you?

think we are good to go for the friendlies in the next 3 weeks, most likely going to be on Mondays in Colmcilles, with the last week being in Wesley.

will confirm asap, waiting on one team to confirm they will be there but at the very least we have three teams confirmed for next 3 mondays, plus a pitch and ref.

will do. one team is acting the boll*x and holding this up. thinking of getting in another team to replace them for this monday anyway.

will confirm in the next few hours.

a good win tonight few more games and i think we can step it up a notch, by the looks of things players will be fightin for their positions in defence which is great and it looks like where nicely stocked in midfield as well.
also cheers derek for the lift

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,748 ✭✭✭✭Lovely Bloke

Craig, Keith and maybe your other two to come in too, that would be 19, perhaps slightly too many by one or two, but like last season, people who don't start for one or two games in a row potentially stop coming, so I'd like to stock the squad from the start.

I think with proper full backs in place, and not square pegs in round holes, we'll be even better. No offence to those who did play in the full back positions tonight, but we do have actual full backs in the squad who are better there.

I liked that we created enough to win that game by four or five really, they never created very much though, we cleared one off the line, but it was a weak enough shot and we'd a man on the post as is proper from corners.

I think we're fairly adaptable, and can tweak the midfield combinations to suit if we want to go all out attacking or be slightly more conservative.

good win, probably deserved to win by 3 or 4, but overall we were well on top.

the two results tonight were -

    Boardeaux 2 Dell 1
    Rocco 5 Portugal FC 2

Next Mondays weeks fixtures are -

    Portugal V Dell
    Rocco V Boardeaux

I think Dell want to play at 7.15 every night, so will confirm if that is what will happen.

    Pretty solid, impressive win.

I thought it took a while to settle with the fullbacks, wingers having to cover back a bit more, but it got better after half-time.

    Great second goal.
