Extremely. We has a strong enough team out last night but performances seem to be going from bad to worse. Spurs really need to learn how to break a team down that sits back and defends. I thought after we went 1 up we would cruise but did not happen. As far as I can see the majority of premiership teams are going to come to WHL and sit back and let us come on to them unless we get better at unlocking defenses.

They have been doing that for some time and we need to come up something better than huff and puff and eventually the door will blow down.

We have the players in the squad this season to unlock defences, hopefully as they settle in, it will improve. The problem is neither Ericksen or Holtby are the finished article, both are good and may become great players but they are nowhere near an Ozil or Carzola.

I think skillwise, Lamela is well ahead of the 2 of them, we need to get him on the pitch asap, he will socre and create.

Anyone want to guess what Tim Sherwood's first team sheet will look like?

Whats the centre back injury situation?

    http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/356325/TEAM-NEWS-Tottenham-missing-key-trio-for-West-Ham-clash

    Dawson, Sandro and Paulinho out.

Danny Rose (toe), Christian Eriksen (ankle), Vlad Chiriches (knee) and Younes Kaboul (thigh) could all return, but defender Jan Vertonghen (ankle) is out.

If Vlad and Kaboul don't make it, that's 4 CB's injured at the same time - what are the chances of that?!

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,713 ✭✭✭2nd Row Donkey

Kaboul is the new Ledley King, we might as just get used to that. We are never going to build a defence around a CB partnership that includes Kaboul.

The future is Jan and Vlad, Daws as cover maybe. We need to think about a CB in January but picking up quality at that time of the year is near impossible so a CB has to be a priority in the summer.

I've a feeling Tim will go 4-4-2. Chriches, Kaboul & Rose could start.

It that is the case I'd like to see one of Capoue / Dembele in the middle alongside one of Eriksen / Holtby. Chadli & Lennon on the wings and Lamela up front with Soldado.

I fancy us to win by two goals, probably 3-1 and people will wonder what the hell AVB was up to!

City are the team to beat in this cup.

Is this not on their box at all? surely Tom Mayes will have it on somehow. Have my work Xmas party tomorrow night and wouldn't mind sneaking off to catch it...

Sherwood will pick the strongest team possible for tomorrow night,He'll want to win his 1st match in charge so that means no resting anyone.
My team(providing all are available to play) in a 4-4-1-1 formation

    Lloris

    Walker Vlad Kaboul/Fryers Rose

    Capoue Dembele

    Townsend Lamela

    Eriksen

    Soldado

Get ahead if we can then he can think of resting the likes of Soldado,Dembele etc for Sunday.
It's gonna be tough and horrible to watch but we can blame "Big Sam" for that as they will be camped at the edge of their box waiting to hit us on the counter but we get the 1st goal then we can win this easily enough.
    I'll go for 2-0
    Fingers crossed
    In Tim we trust

Reckon Sherwood will do a fine job for the time being, may even be a surprise hit. Soldado & Ade up top please.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,290 ✭✭✭Leinstersqspur

Can't see Ade starting tonight as he can't be match fit.

I reckon 4-4-2 with Lamela (free role) supporting Soldado. If the Baldini/Levy/AVB meeting reports are anything to go by, they want Lamela in the team and at home in the League Cup is a good place to start.

I reckon we could smash these tonight:cool::cool: COYS

I think this could work really well!!

Lads - anyone know a place that is showing the Spurs v West Ham game tonight in Dublin? I know the Man v Stoke game is on Sky so most pubs will be showing that.

No matter what has happened with the manager this week we still should have enough to beat West Ham at home. yes they hammered us a few months back but hopefully Sherwood ( our manager - how weird foes that sound) will not play the high line/get caught on the break as we did before.
They are missing Nolan tonight and are on a terrible run so we should take the game to them.
    2-0
    COYS!!!!

Ade & Kaboul in first team training, the very curious case of Adebayor. If he starts I'll be backing him to score and Spurs to win, bound to happen.

Kaboul as well - have 2 days been the difference between him being fit for first team training and not being able to play on Sunday? Could there have been something else going on?

Hi, there is a place on o'connell street beside the gresham called murrays. it used to be called frazers afaik. Upstairs they have a kind of sports bar where i know on saturdays they show every game. They have about 10 tvs in the bar with different games on each one. They stream them from the internet onto the tvs. I reckon this place would be your best bet to catch the game.

I just checked their website and they are showing the spurs game! COYS!

Couldn't think of a better way to get into the festive spirit than sinking a few pints watching us beat West Ham.

Apparently, Vlad and Kaboul trained for the 1st time in a week yesterday. Good timing for Tim, bad for Andre;)

I had been to Mayes a few times but the last two times they had trouble with the screen/connection so we had to leave. Haven't been back since. Maybe its cleared up.

Ah right, haven't been in a good while.

Why not try Brannigans on Cathedral St (just of O'Connell St).. Home to the Dublin Hammers!! Will definitely be on in there;)
