AL-KO Kober shock absorber

Hi all.

I done the DOE on the camper last week, every thing fine. Only a rear left shock to be replaced, problem starts here i cant find a replacement of the same type. Its on a fiat ducato 2.5tdi fendt body with al-ko chassy (1995), the shock is a AL-KO Kober 26.133 228.747.00.04.Tried all motor factors. Any help would be much appreciated.

They don't have an agent listed for Ireland but the staff at the European Office for the UK and Ireland at Southam in the UK very helpful.

Looks to me like the modern red alko one has the same measurement at a fraction of the cost:

The weight capacity is indicated by the colour, we can usually get those.

Just be careful you don't end up with one / a pair for a caravan. The AL-KO trailer chassis suspension has a much shorter travel range than the AL-KO auto motive chassis as used for motorhomes.

The red ones seem to be the same same length as the part number and have a high suspension weight rating: http://shop.al-ko.co.uk/products/octagon-shock-absorbers--pair---red-.html

You'd definitely want to check the eye sizes though.

I looked into them before for a friend couldn't get over how small they were more like a washing machine shock than a vehicle part.

The brochure and specifications of the ones you are linking to repeatedly says 'caravans' and Euro Axle which is a caravan/trailer axle.

AL-KO AMC (Auto Motive Chassis) is a different division of the company which specialise in chassis/axle manufacture for motorhomes.

A phone call or email to AL-KO in the UK would be the best route if you want to DIY or leave the job to a specialist like Aidan_M_M
