Yeah, surfing the wave here, since 8 o'clock.

It took her a couple of tracks to settle in but Lilian Smith is an excellent stand in for JC. Pugwash, a reggae cover of I Fought the Law, Wallis Bird, LuLu's To Sir With Love and Sandy Denny; it's as if he isn't gone atall :)

Edit; Coney Island. My week is made.

Good Foo Fighters song too. :)

I didn't realise that Lillian was filling in for John tonight when I tuned in. We can look forward to her company tomorrow night as well, it seems :)

I think it's Lisa McInerney is doing 11 ti 12 and it's good too.

Could just listen to a few songs while driving. I hadn't heard Luke Kelly doing Thank You for the Days for a while.

A strong start from herself; the Madonna track was so wrong and yet so right.

Lillian is going to be filling in for JC for the week. I wonder if she'll be doing The Weekend On One on Saturday too. A late finish on the Friday, and a very early start on the Saturday?

Mind you, it's almost 9PM on Tuesday and nothing by Leonard Cohen has been played yet this week. Her one and only slip up :D

Promised some Leonard for later on tonight, at the start of the show. :D

'Reeling In The Years' by Steely Dan

Reeling in the Years, another good idea from another Corkman, John O'Regan.

Some Blades as well. Friday may not be easy if she keeps this up.

Ah, there's Leonard now to wrap things up!

John is up 9,000 listeners year on year in today's JNLR. The show has 45,000 listeners a day; a fantastic figure for an off peak radio show.

    Love this show

Fair Play to John. I don't listen as often as I used to. With the summer coming on, that could change.

I could only listen for about 10 minutes to the show last night and he got me on three counts: Daniel Lanois, Randy Newman, and Northern Exposure! I think John Creedon lives in my head...

    Delighted for him.

Soundest man on radio. You just get a sense of JC that he's a genuinely lovely and very intelligent man, though he never forces it.

I love how he reaches out to an international audience, too. I was also an avid listener when I lived abroad. There was something very comforting about hearing a familiar Irish accent every evening and the fact that he never failed to mention those who have left Ireland, not necessarily by our preference.

    Top class radio altogether.

I listen to RTE radio now and again. Late date for example, or this show

I've always noticed how rigid they are with playing requests.

The response is usually along the lines of.......'That's a great choice, but I'm afraid I don't have it in with me, or stay tuned, I'll have it for ya next week'

I was working one evening a while back and emailed a request for a specific song - JC read it out pretty much immediately and it was the next song he played.
